March 14, 2016. Two months after Ashley became pregnant.
"Ashley, your belly's gettin kinda round and, er, visible now.." I said-implying that it was time we lie to the whole school that she has cancer or something crazy like that, therefore taking her out of school. She was starting to really look pregnant and people at school were talking. Ashley suddenly gasped in delight.
"Alex, I felt a kick!" she exclaimed. Irritation overcame me.
"Great." I replied. "How, great." I was really annoyed that she kept getting excited about my BROTHER'S kid inside MY girlfriend. Ashley glared at me.
"You've been a real jerk." She said softly-her eyes burning into my very soul. I felt like someone had just slapped me in the face. Jee, I was being a jerk. Heck-I've been a jerky boyfriend for the past two months and Ashley's put up with every single bit of me! My jerky attitude and my jerky self and my jerky face and my whole entire freaking jerky life! It was a nasty wake-up call.
"A-Ashley, I-I'm so sorry...I-Can...Will you forgive me? For being such a jerk these past months?" I stammered-not being able to find the right words right away.
"Thank you." She said and then nodded. Suddenly she clamped her hand over her mouth and ran to the bathroom. I could hear the wretched wrenching noises all the way from the living room.
Irritation and anger flooded me for the millionth time. Ashley was suffering and throwing up because of my stupid brother. I wanted to beat his face up and let him get run over by a bus. In fact, that's quite similar to what I wanted to do. And I knew exactly where he was.
. . .
"Hey Ashley!" I said as she slowly came down the stairs, holding her belly. I ran over to her to help her down the stairs.
"I'm fine, I'm fine. I will get down the stairs myself." She sniffed and waved me off. I shrugged. She wasn't mad at me-she was just irritated by all my attention.
I returned to the table waiting for her to get down.
"I have some news!" I said when she finally reached me.
"Is it bad news?" She asked warily, pain crossing her face.
"Nope! It's actually really great news!" I waited for her to say something.
"Well, what is it?" She asked curiously. I grinned and paused for a dramatic effect.
"I bought back that old mansion of mine! Remember that one?" What was I thinking? Of course she knew what I was talking about! Idiot. The reason why I bought it back? Well, Rodney still goes into the mansion every Tuesday around three-for whatever reason of his-and I still wanted to make him pay. You wanna know how I found that out? Well, I got skillzzz. Actually I just hacked into wiring and tracked his phone...Ya, I got skillzzz.
I saw the smile I thought was gone for good, spread across her face.
"Oh, Alexander! That is great news!" She jumped up and hugged me-instantly recoiling back in pain when she had jumped.
"Oh, I shouldn't have jumped like that!" She whimpered, clutching her huge stomach.
"Woah, Ashley, are you okay?" I chuckled.
"I'm fine. I just need to sit down." She said as she plopped down into a chair.
"O.K." I sighed. She was being so stubborn today. "Anyways," I continued. "I bought back that old mansion and I was wondering if you would like to move in with me." Her eyes got huge.
