~ (y/n)'s P.O.V. ~

Newt paused in pushing my wheelchair when a shout rang through the air. The sky was darker now, but still gray. Another yell echoed across the Glade, followed by a screech that made me freeze as I looked to the doors.

"Newt, the doors aren't closed. They're supposed to close." Newt pushed my wheelchair into the Med-jack hut, then picked me up, holding me close to him as the first scream from a Glader echoed across the Glade. "They're here." I whispered clenching onto Newt as screams of panic rose up through the Glade

All of the Glade was running around. I watched as one of the Gladers was grabbed and thrown through the air. My breath caught in my throat when the Griever didn't catch the person. I looked around.

"Where is Tommy and Teresa?" Newt shrugged, briefly hiding behind the kitchen before running again.

"They must've run off-" Newt's voice went up an octave when he slipped and we slid across the ground.  Newt groaned and I rolled myself off of him. Goo from a Griever was all over his back. Newt moved to get up, but I stopped him.

"Maybe they won't smell us if we have their scent." I whispered. Newt looked at me, eyebrows raised.

"What?" I didn't answer, I just scooped at the goo on his back, then spread it along his face and arms. Newt did the same for me once he realized what I meant. A screech pierced the air near us, and Newt picked me up, quietly moving us into the brush just outside of the woods near the garden. A Griever came around the kitchen, briefly turning up to the sky as if it was smelling for something. I held my breath as it made a clicking sound, stopping by the goo we had slipped in. I watched through the leaves as it bent down, growling, then let out a screech, turning away from us. When the Griever was gone, Newt pulled me against him.

"Bloody hell, it worked." I nodded.

"But probably not for long, we need to move." Newt nodded, picking me up and running through the woods.

The area seemed more quiet as we moved through the woods, only Newt's panted breath filled the air.

"Where are we going?" I whispered, looking to Newt.

"If you were going to hide anywhere in the Glade, where would it be?" I furrowed my eyebrows, thinking.

"Well, the Box. Maybe the building where we have Council Hall because some of our weapons are kept there. Do you really think the others-" Newt placed a hand over my mouth, hiding us behind a tree. I looked up at him and he peeked around the corner, pointing. I looked to see the Grievers circling our Council Hall. One screeched, shoving its tail through the grass roof. The Gladers inside screamed.

"Oh shuck." I whispered, I turned back, looking to Newt with a frown. Behind me I heard more breaks in the roof, signaling the rest of the Grievers were reaching in to grab people. The screams and yells were loud and I clenched my eyes shut, knowing we couldn't do anything.

"No, no, no!" Newt shook me as he moved out from behind the trees. I opened my eyes in confusion and looked in front of us as the retreating Grievers, a few of them carrying people away. Newt stopped near the entrance of the Council Hall building. Half of the Gladers ran after the Grievers, but they slowed as they realized they weren't fast enough. The rest of the Gladers watched from the building. Tommy came to us, standing by Newt as he held a shaking Chuck close to his side.

Gally turned to our direction, pushing harshly at Tommy. Chuck stumbled into me and Newt as Tommy fell through the doors and into the building.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?" Newt placed me down to lean against the building as he ran to help Tommy up. He pointed to me. "Watch her, Tommy, Chuck." I huffed as Chuck held onto my side, clearly scared but not wanting to make me fall. Newt turned back to Gally.

"What is your problem?"

"This is all Thomas's fault! He caused all this and now Alby is gone!" I felt myself falter as I pulled Tommy closer to me and Chuck, as some of the Gladers were beginning to stare him down.

"What?" I questioned, and Newt paused, turning his head, looking back at me briefly.

"Yeah, that's right. Alby is who the Grievers took last. They tried to get Chuck, but Alby got in the way. It's all Thomas' fault." Gally glared at Tommy. I frowned, looking to Tommy. He was looking down.

"Tommy, that isn't true." In front of us, Newt yelled back at Gally. Chuck gripped at me tighter.

"No, it's true. None of this started until I came." I shook my head.

"And it could have started without you here, you just happened to be the newest Greenie at the time. We were due to leave the Maze, anyway." Tommy kept silent, fiddling with something in his hands. When I looked down I gasped.

"Tommy, I know what you're thinking. You can't." Tommy looked up at me.

"We have to get answers, (y/n). Maybe there's a way to show us out of the Maze this way." I shook my head, moving Chuck away from me slowly.

"This is not the way." Tommy kept quiet, quickly pulling up his shirt sleeve to expose one of his arms, pulling the needle back with the other. As Tommy moved to stab the needle into his arm, I completely moved Chuck out of the way, grasping at Tommy's arm and moving in the way of the needle.

I scrunched my eyes on impact, coughing when the needle injected into the back of my arm. When I opened my eyes. I grunted, a pulsing pain spread throughout my arm. I moved from Tommy, slumping against the wooden wall of Council Hall. I groaned when someone grabbed me, slightly shaking me.

"(y/n), love, stay awake, stay awake." His voice was a whisper to my ears. I felt someone pull the needle out and I fell against Newt, shaking my head. I saw three of him hovering over me, frowning and talking, then he looked up, yelling at someone else.

"Newt..." I murmured, gripping at his shirt. Everything around me swayed and I felt sick. I turned to my side, dry heaving, yet nothing came up. Newt rubbed at my back.

"See, another thing-"

"Shut your mouth about it Gally! Now is not the time!" The pain hit me stronger, and I curled up. I grasped tightly at one of Newt's hand.

"Stay awake, love, stay awake. Come on (y/n), open those eyes." My eyes fluttered as Newt leaned over me, looking at me, a worried frown on his face. I tried to smile at him, then groaned, clenching my eyes shut again as the pain rolled over me. There was a throbbing in my head as Newt's voice began to echo, except he sounded younger, like a child. I slipped into the darkness.
