I led Newt to dinner. I held the half melted bag of ice to my head, sending Newt a side glance. He was still smiling as we walked forward.
"You're late." Frypan looked up at me and Newt, handing us both plates.
"Sorry, Frypan, small accident." I smiled at him sheepishly. He only sent me a look, taking his own plate and went to sit at one of the tables. I led Newt to the table where Minho and Ben sat. Newt followed behind me hesitantly, but I sent him a smile to try to reassure him he would be fine as we sat down.
"Finally, you guys come to eat. What'd she do to you, Greenie? Attempted murder?" I rolled my eyes, reaching across to Minho and smacking his arm. His dinner plate was half gone by now.
"We fell, you shank. And his name is Newt." I cut and bit into the steak Frypan had cooked.
"Come on! Already on a first name basis with the Greenie?" I shrugged.
"Sorry, Minho, he's my new best friend." Minho scoffed, turning to Newt. He put his hand up between me and him.
"She's a little traitor. Watch out, she'll bad mouth me but she's the one to watch out for." I gave Minho a pointed look and crossed my arms.
"I can still hear you, your hand does nothing." Minho put his hand down, ready to say something else, but Ben put his hand between the two of us.
"Don't listen to Minho, Newt. He enjoys twisting up trouble." Newt nodded slowly and shifted in his seat. A loud bell rang behind us. I turned. Alby had come from the Med-jack hut, and now he stood on one of the table.
"It's time for our celebration for our Greenie!"
"It's Newt now, Alby." Minho's voice wasn't a shout, but it carried and Alby smiled, pointing a hand out to where we sat.
"For Newt!" Everyone around us cheered.

I sat beside Newt at the fire. The other boys hadn't started fighting yet, though they had their drinks out and were dancing around us. They were yelling and occasionally they would come to Newt, patting him on the back. He looked uncomfortable each time, but he smiled at the others anyway.
I watched as the few boys we had started gathering in a circle, then I looked at Newt.
"I'm gonna head to the hammocks, but you can stay here. This is all for you." He looked like he wanted to argue, but I turned to Ben, quietly asking him to watch Newt. Ben nodded and I got up, heading away from the fire.

Ben looked at me as I watched (y/n) leave. She only looked back once to wave.
"Does she really go to bed early?" Ben huffed a laugh.
"No. Look." He pointed forward at the small circle of the other boys, and I realized two were in the middle fighting. "She hates their fights. Gally has a bit of a temper, as I'm sure she told you, so he thrives in these fights. She says we get loud too, but I know she hates watching the fight circles the most." I looked back to the circle, watching as Gally took down Clint with ease.
"Does she go to the hammocks?" Ben shook his head.
"There's a small hill if you go straight past the garden. She goes there a lot, especially when she can't sleep." I nodded in thanks, getting up to leave.
"Greenie, you gonna join the fight?" I paused, looking to see it was Gally who had spoken. I shook my head.
"Gonna follow (y/n) like a puppy then?" I opened my mouth then closed it.
"I don't-" Alby put a hand on Gally's shoulder.
"Leave him be, if he doesn't want to fight then he doesn't want to." Gally looked at Alby, a frown on his face. I didn't stay to listen to what Gally was going to say. I scampered over the log I had been sitting at, heading towards the garden, heading to (y/n).

I found (y/n) where Ben said she would be. Her face was tilted up to the sky as I approached where she was.
"Why aren't you at your celebration?" I shrugged, coming closer to her, then sitting down facing her.
"I didn't want to fight." (y/n) gave me a lopsided smile.
"Honorable of you."
"And I figured you would like me not to, considering you don't like the fighting circles." (y/n) sighed, looking back at the sky for a moment.
"Ben told you."
"I asked." I scooted closer to her, looking up at the sky with her.
"At least we still get stars here. They could've made us had a completely blank sky, but we have stars too." The stars twinkled as she talked, and I felt the tugging again.
"I guess you've always loved stars." (y/n) shrugged.
"I couldn't tell you what I liked before being here, but maybe I did." I hummed in reply, lying completely on my back beside her. Somewhere in my mind, I knew she always loved them. A flicker of a memory of being on the roof with her passed through my mind. As quick as it came, the memory was gone.
"You're going to get grass in your hair." Her voice sounded amused.
"Well it's easier to look at them this way. Just try." (y/n) huffed, then turned to lay beside me.
"You'll be picking the grass out of my hair." I let out a light laugh as we both looked up, side by side. Across the sky passed a shooting star.
"Well, make a wish." (y/n) whispered, and so I did.
