"You just killed yourself!" I heard Minho yell. I turned over, leaning on my arms to look at Minho. I held a hand to the bandage on my head. I had hit my head again when falling through the doors.
"What?" Tommy looked at Minho with wide eyes. I crawled towards the wall, grabbing at the vines to stand myself up. I heavily leaned against the wall, looking to Tommy and Minho.
"No one ever survives a night in the Maze, Tommy." I huffed a breath, keeping my fingers looped around the vines. Minho looked at me, mouth open in surprise.
"(y/n)?" I ignored him as Tommy turned to look at me.
"Except you." Tommy said. I pulled myself along the wall to come closer to them, hopping on one foot as I went. I stopped when Tommy came to my side.
"I barely survived. My night in here is part of the reason I'm like this, why I can't walk anymore. A Griever got me on the leg. Now it's not the same anymore." Tommy stayed quiet, supporting me as I stood.
"Why are you here?" Minho asked, coming closer, Alby still in his hold.
"I made the dumb decision of trying to grab Tommy to stop him from coming in here. I tumbled instead." I shook my head, huffing a laugh. "I'm not going to make another night, not like this. There's Alby and there's me. You can't carry both." Minho shook his head, leaning Alby against the wall, sweat dripping down his face.
"We'll take you. Alby... he might as well be dead. He got stung." I frowned, looking down at Alby's slumped figure.
"Maybe we could hide him." Tommy shrugged his shoulders.
"It's worth trying. If we don't make it, Alby should. We could use him as a sign to the Gladers." I thought back to Newt for a second, my stomach twisting at the way he had looked at me when I waved to him before the doors closed. I pushed the thought away, looking back up at Minho. I had to focus on what we were going to do now to survive in the Maze.
"Where would we even hide him?" Minho scoffed, gesturing his hands around. Tommy looked up and I followed his gaze to the vined walls, immediately understanding what he was thinking.

I watched as the two boys pulled the vine, making Alby go higher. The sun was just setting and we didn't have much time.
"Just a few more pulls." I told them, leaning against the wall behind them. Down the corridor came a loud screech, one I was familiar with. Minho looked back at me, panic in his eyes. I shook my head at him.
"C'mon Minho, just one more." Tommy grunted out, but Minho was gone.
"Shuck!" I muttered. There was another screech. "It's good enough, Tommy, just tie it off. We need go." Tommy nodded and tied off the vine, then he turned, picking me up.
"Where do we go?" I looked around for a moment, then looked to Tommy.
"Go a few turns to lead them from Alby, then we'll figure it out." Tommy nodded, and after a few turns, I tapped his shoulder.
"Here, put me down." Tommy paused.
"Why?"
"There's a space under the wall. I can hide there. You can find another space or climb."
"But you said the vines-" I shook my head as he placed me on the ground.
"Just don't climb too high." I slid into the spot under the wall. The last time I was in the Maze, spots like this had saved my life. "Now, go. Hide." Tommy nodded, jogging along the wall across from me, then slid into a space similar to mine. Just as he slid into the spot, a screech echoed along the corridor. I could see Tommy's face through some of the vines. I put a finger to my lips, telling him to stay quiet. A slight nod told me that he saw and I scooted back some, watching him do the same.
