There is only one thing can describe New York in January. Cold. And for a cold blooded amphibian it was even worse. Mikey jumped from building to building trying to warm his body as he looked for any trouble on the streets of the city, but, of course, on the coldest day of the year, there was no trouble to be seen. Now, some of you may be wondering why the youngest of the turtles would be on his own and not with his brothers. Well, you see, this year the brothers would be turning 23, and they had all decided that with the decrease in crime (AKA. Defeat of Shreader and the Foot) that each of them would take turns patrolling the city, and the month of January was Mikey's.
Sighing, the hyper turtle took out his skate board and began doing tricks on the icy roofs. Only four hours left until sunrise and he was so bored! Looking to the sky, Mikey said, "Look, I don't know if there is a god or not, or if you're a girl or guy, or a freak'n cat, and I don't care!, But could you please let something happen! I'm dying here of boredom! And if you can't make anything happen can you at least make it warmer!" The young turtle was practically whining by the end of his spat with the sky.
Minutes passed without even a sound in the big city. Mikey had almost given up hope for something that could cure his boredom, when a sudden cry rang from the night.
"Mom!?!"
It was a child. Now usually the vigilantes' did not deal with children, but tonight Mikey was going to take anything he could get. He started off towards the sound of the cry and as he got closer he could hear the child call out for his mother more and more. Finally getting to the source of the voice, Mikey found a young boy, around five, wondering around an alley with tears falling down his face.
Mikey knew it was dangerous for a child this young to be out at night alone, not to mention the weather. So every so slowly, Mikey climbed down the building, making as little noise as he could, so not to scare the child. Once he reached the ground, Mikey cleared his throat to get the boys' attention.
"Hey kiddo. Why you crying?"
The little boy looked towards the voice that came from the shadows. Sniffling, he said, "I'm lost. But Mommy always told me not to talk to strangers."
Mikey laughed at that. "Well your mother's right, so why don't we become friends so that we can talk and I can help you home. Is that ok?"
The little boy smiled, "Really? You'll help me get home?"
"Of course I will! After all I am Super Turtle! Saving people is what I do!" Mikey stepped out of the shadows, striking a heroic pose.
The boy gasped and ran up to Mikey. "You really are a turtle Mr. super hero!"
"Hehe! Of course I am! Now then little man how about we get you back to your mom?"
"Yah!!" the boy jumped up and down in excitement, and climbed onto Mikey's back as the turtle bent down for him. Once the boy was on his shoulders, Mikey stood up and began to carry the kid up the building.
"Now, first things first," Mikey said as he climbed. "Where was the last place you saw your mom?"
"We were at the store getting milk. Momma told me to stay with her and not run off but I didn't listen."
