Time for a Change

Awkward Questions- Donnie's POV

     It was early in the morning and Chloe and I were still up. She was sitting in the corner of the room reading about astronomy while I put the finishing touches on my latest invention.

      Suddenly, Mikey can running into the room. "Oh thank god you're up! There's something wrong with me Donnie!"

I sighed and put my things down. "What's wrong Mikey?"

        "Well you see I was with Emma right? And she was asleep and I was just thinking about how beautiful she was and how much I loved her and-"

"Get to the point Mikey."

"I growled!"

I stared at him and sighed. "Mikey I don't have time for this."

"No! I'm serious! I growled!"

           I started feeling a headache coming on and pinched the bridge of my nose. "Mikey, listen. You were probably half away asleep and your stomach growled, making you think that it was you."

"But-but"

"Just go back to sleep Mikey. I promise you it was nothing."

Slumping Mikey nodded and walked out the door. I sighed again and laid back in my chair.

        "D-donnie?" I heard Chloe ask me. I hummed in reply. "What if Mikey really did what he said he did? I mean of course he didn't growl, but isn't it possible that it could be something else?"

        A small smile played on my lips. "Nah. Trust me, knowing Mikey it's just his mind making it up. Besides if it was something genetic all of us would have experienced it by now."

"Well" she started. "What if it wasn't something you guys have experienced before?"

I turned to her, curious about what she was thinking.

        She continued, "What I mean is, what if it is something that has to do with instincts? I mean since you guys are turtles it would only make since for you to have some instincts that non-mutated turtles would have... right?"

       I smile. "Yes but as I said before, we all would have experienced it if that was what the problem was."

         "But... what if the rest of you didn't experience it because the instinct doesn't apply to you yet."

"You mean like if Mikey was going through something we're not?"

"Yes."

I thought about it. "Well I guess it's possible. Why? What are you thinking of?"

       Chloe blushed and looked down. "Well, I was thinking, because Mikey is the only one of you that is dating, well, isn't it possible that he is churring?"

         It took me a while to process her words. Churring. A low vibrating noise that turtles make when they are mating. Is it possible? I mean we are turtles but... I felt my face heat up as I went through the possibilities. Oh my gosh....

         When I didn't respond right away Chloe started apologizing. "No, no, Chloe you're fine!" I cleared my throat trying to get rid of my blush. "I-I guess I just never thought about it, but yes, yes I suppose that is a possibility."

          After getting my answer, Chloe apologized once more before excusing herself to her room. Leaving me to think about what she said.

Churring... I guess I will have to have aconversation with my brothers.
