Time for a Change

Girls and Food

     The family had barely gotten into the house when a girl with short black hair came running up to them.

      "Hi! I'm Piper! But you can call me Pip if you want. Eeek! I'm soooo happy you guys are here! Oh and hi Mikey! But anyways just leave your stuff here in the foyer for now. We'll get you guys settled after we have dinner!" she said in all one breath. "Oh! You must be Mr. Hamato! It's a pleasure to meet you face to face! And that means you're Mikey's brothers! Now which one is which? No, no, no! Don't tell me! Let's see Mikey said 'Blue leader Leo, Red rage Raph, Purple doctor Donnie'. Am I right? Of course I'm right. Are you guys happy you're here because I'm happy you're here! Come on let's get you guys fed! I hope you like spaghetti!" Piper grabbed Leo's hand and started to pull him towards the dining room.

      "Piper! Calm down." Emma scolded as she led the others to where their brother was dragged off to.

       "Don't tell me how to live my life woman!" Piper called as she got Leo to sit in one of the dining chairs before she turned back to the others. "Come on! The rest of you sit, sit!" the family sat quickly making Piper smile. "Now then, what would you guys like to drink? We have water, wine, beer, hot tea, coffee, soda pop, milk, chocolate milk, orange juice, apple juice, and grape juice."

"I want chocolate milk!" Skyler called from the kitchen.

"No Skyler. You know the rules, no chocolate mike at night"

"Aww!! But Aunt Pip!"

"Nope! Sorry Sky, your mammas to scary." Piper said earning a glare from Emma.

Once Mikey and his family gave Piper their orders she went back to the kitchen.

     "I'm sorry about Piper guys. She's a bit... eccentric. But she means well and she really is happy you are here." Emma apologized.

      Leo smiled. "Don't worry about it, Emma. I think you forget that we live with Mikey and are used to that kind of behavior."

      Before Emma could respond another girl with blond hair walked into the room carrying a bowl of pasta. She set the bowl down and smiled at the newcomers nervously.

      "H-hi. I'm Chloe, the owner of this house. It's a pleasure to meet all of you." She said quietly bowing her head and then went back to the kitchen, almost running into Piper on the way.

      Piper started setting down everyone's drinks. "Don't worry about her guys. She's just a bit nervous when it comes to anyone of the male species. But don't fret! She'll warm up as soon as she realizes she can trust you."

      "Yah." Mikey said. "Took her a while to warm up to me, but when she does she's like a different person! Like seriously! She's still a bit shy, but she's more blunt and talks a lot more now."

       Piper nods at Mikey's words as she sits on the other side of Leo. "Yep! Now, do any of you like Red clover or peppermint tea?" Both Master Splinter and Leo nod. "Oh good! I'll make some tomorrow morning for us then! You see a couple of weeks ago I went to China to pick up some artifacts that the museum is showing this winter, and when I was there a women gave me a Yixing clay tea set for red clover peppermint tea! It is quite old too. Now with me, is on its third generation she said. So I have been using it every day, but I'm glad that there are more people now that will enjoy it with me!"

         Master Splinter nodded. "That is quite the gift. I am surprised that such a valuable set was gifted to you by a stranger. Many pass such things down their own family lines."

        "Yes I was too, but she said that the set was also gifted to her when she was about my age. She said that she had been searching a long time for the person to pass it onto next."
