A blood curtailing scream drew me out of my slumber.

Piper!

I ran to her room, my brother's right beside me. When we got there we saw her trashing around in her bed.

I quickly went up to her. "Piper? Piper! Wake up, it's just a dream. It's just a dream."

Piper opened her eyes and jumped away from me breathing heavily. She stared at me for a while before looking around the room. I could tell that her brain was still processing where she was.

"L-leo?"

"Yah, it's me."

Suddenly she started crying.

"Ahh.. No, no, don't cry!" I scooped her up in my arms and held her. Turning, I looked at Donnie for help, but he just put his hands in the air and left, pulling Raph and Mikey with him.

I sighed and placed Piper into her bed before sitting beside her. When I layed down next to her she buried her face to my chest.

I carefully held her to me and rubbed her back. "It's ok. It's ok. You're safe. You're safe. I promise, I will always keep you safe."

Slowly the cries slowed down to soft hiccups. "L-leo?"

"Yes?"

"Please don't leave me. Please... "

I pulled her close to me. "I promise. I promise you that I'll never leave you."

Piper sniffed and moved herself closer to me.

"Leo?"

"Yes?"

"I'm scared."

"What are you scared of?"

Piper looked up at me with tears in her eyes. "My father."

A silence passed over us.

Recollecting my thoughts I asked, "Why are you scared of your father?"

"Their letting him out." She said and pointed to her phone on the night stand. "They said he's 'better' now, so their letting him out."

I picked up her phone and found the messages. I clicked on the most recent one.

'Hello Miss Rose, this is the Merduk Insane Asylum. We are calling to inform you that do to the tremendous progress your father, Mr. Rose, has made, the government has decided to allow him back into society. We will be releasing him on December seventh. Thank you for your time and have a good day.'

Piper was staring at the phone with fear. I don't blame her. Who knows what he did to get in there in the first place.

"Piper," I called, taking her chin and making her look at me. "I promise you that I will protect you from anything that tries to hurt you. I don't know what your father did, but I promise that you're safe with me."

Piper let out a sob and hugged me. "Thank you... thank you..."
