Lavender's blue, dilly, dilly, lavender's green
When I am king, dilly, dilly, You shall be queen

"Ah!!!" George shot up in bed, the nightmares of the war once again waking him. Feeling him sit up, you rolled over and gently pulled him back down.

"Go back to bed George. It was just a nightmare."

Who told you so, dilly, dilly, who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly, that told me so

He looked at you, shaking with tears visible in his eyes.

"That's the thing Y/N. It wasn't a nightmare. It actually happened." You woke up more at this, realizing what he was dreaming about.

"Oh George. I'm sorry honey. Come here, I'll sing to you until you fall asleep okay?" He nodded and laid down next to you, wrapping his arms around your waist. You gently started to brush his hair with your fingers before you sang the lullaby you had been sung as a child.

Call up your men, dilly, dilly, set them to work
Some to the plough, dilly, dilly, some to the fork
Some to make hay, dilly, dilly, some to cut corn
While you and I, dilly, dilly, keep ourselves warm
Lavender's green, dilly, dilly, Lavender's blue
if you love me, dilly, dilly, I will love you.

George shot up in bed, gasping for air as he grasped the sheets next to him, not feeling a body like he half expected to. As he calmed down, he looked at the clock.

7:48 am

Sighing, he lifted himself out of bed and into his work clothes. As he passed the flower shop next door, he went inside and grabbed a bouquet of lavender. Turning into an alleyway, he apparated to the cemetery where he walked to one of the freshest gravestones there. Kneeling on the ground was you, wearing all black with a beanie to protect your head from the frosty winter air. George kneeled next to you, gently setting down the lavender in front of the headstone. He looked over the name engraved on the stone.

Lavender Brown
1979-1998
Loving daughter and cousin
Let the birds sing, dilly, dilly, And the lambs play
We shall be safe, dilly, dilly, out of harm's way

"Y/N, sweetheart, it's time to go. We have to open the store today," George said softly. You nodded, standing up.

"See ya Lav," you whispered before turning around and walking away from your cousin's grave.
