I had just finished my final touch ups when I heard a knock on my front door. I checked my reflection on my floor length mirror before answering the door. Bryce's beaming face greeted me the moment I opened the door. He was so handsome with his black suit and tie. I suddenly felt self-conscious in front of him.
"Hello date." He said handing me a black felt box.
"What's this?"
"Open it." I could feel the excitement in his voice.
I opened the box gently with my shaking hands and found a silver satin mask with feather and bead accents. "Oh Bryce, this is gorgeous. And it matched my dress." I said and gave him a thank you hug.
"I'm glad you liked it. Are you ready?"
I nodded and followed him outside the house. We got into his car and he drove off to the venue where our company's Year-End Masquerade Ball was held.
We arrived at the hotel and saw our coworkers all dressed up and looking gorgeous. Everyone really looked their best for the night. The night was filled with lots of dancing, food, and picture taking. There were also awards given to the outstanding employees. I was one of the few who received perfect attendance award.
The party was twice the fun all because Bryce was my date. I'd still get that electric feeling whenever he touched my back while we danced or whenever he held my hand under the table the whole duration of the party. I felt like I was Cinderella and everything felt like a dream come true.
Before the program ended, the management announced the winner of "couple of the night". I was in complete shock when they showed on the screen a stolen shot of myself and Bryce dancing sweetly. It was that time when Bryce whispered something funny which explained the big smile on my face.
Everyone in the crowd cheered and clapped. Bryce stood up and offered his hand. Such a gentleman. I took his hand and we walked together towards the stage to claim our "couple of the night" sashes.
"You wanna get out of here?" Bryce whispered as the party music blasted off and everyone else joined us on the dance floor.
I nodded and let him lead the way. The moment we got into his car, I sent Sydney a quick text saying I already left with Bryce. I didn't want her wondering where I'd gone. I had no idea where Bryce wanted to take me but I just let him. I trusted him. Really trusted him. We drove back to my house and I wondered what he had in mind.
"Get changed and pack some clothes. We're going somewhere." He commanded the moment we got out of his car.
I fumbled with my house keys and dashed straight to my bedroom. I rushed out of my dress and changed into a more comfortable pullovers and jeans. I didn't know where we were going, so to be sure, I packed a sundress, a bikini, a couple of shorts and shirts and a cardigan.
We got back in to Bryce's car and he drove off to somewhere only he knew. Wherever he was taking me, I had no clue. However, I trust that wherever we're headed, it would be somewhere special, just like the last time, seven months ago.
Ever since Bryce poured out his feeling for me after that quick trip to his grandparent's farm, we had taken things slow. As he said, we started over, a fresh new start. We went out on dates to get to know each other more. He always made sure I knew how he felt for me. He was always very patient too. He never rushed me to commit. He said I could take all the time in the world because he wasn't going anywhere.
This whole thing that was happening between me and Bryce was like a dream came true. I had never imagined we'd ever reconnect again. I had never been this happy my entire life.
