I suppose it was a good thing, Harry making me call the doctor. But I was not liking having to sit in this hospital bed. It uncomfortable...and I was sort of freaking out.
"He's on his way. He'll be here soon. How are you feeling?"
"Better...the contractions have stopped so that's a definite plus... thanks for making me call..."
"Don't worry about it. Anything for baby Horan, right?"
"Yeah."
It was about ten minutes later when Niall ran through the door, sweaty and out of breath.
"What happened? Did I miss it?"
"Miss what?"
"Harry said you were about to have the baby."
"Wrong. I said you will be a father soon... totally different."
"I'm not in labor at the moment so relax. First, I haven't seen you in a month so I would really like for you to kiss me please."
I watched the tension leave his shoulders as he walked over to me and grabbed my face giving me such a passionate kiss it felt like it knocked the breath out of me.
"Much better. I had a premature rupture of membranes, basically my water broke but not like all the way I guess. Then the contractions started. They gave me a medicine to slow down labor so we can try and get farther along, they gave me a medicine for Ryan to speed up his lung development and a medicine so there's no infection from the membrane nonsense."
"So no baby?"
"Not yet...but a few more days maybe."
"Woah."
"That's exactly what I said..."
"Do you feel okay though? You're not in pain or anything?"
"No, I'm fine right now...can you come lay with me?"
Niall moved onto the bed adjusting us enough to get comfortable together.
"Um, if you guys are good I'm going to get going... leaving early to drive up to my mum's tomorrow."
"Of course, thanks mate."
"Anytime. I expect to be the first called once the little one is born though."
"You're number one on the list. Thanks Harry."
"Course love... Merry Christmas guys."
Harry left and it was just us now. The only thing we could do was sit and wait.
***
So we waited, and waited for what felt like eternity. We called my parents and Sara to let them know what was happening. We called Maura and Bobby so they weren't sitting at the house not knowing what the hell was going on.36 hours.
That's all it took until the contractions started again. It all happened so fast, there was no time for an epidural. The whole birthing planned that I had researched and planned out with my doctor was thrown out the window. The private midwife that had come to give us a few private Lamaze classes... didn't make any difference.
It hurt like hell and I wanted this baby out of me. I was already planning on grounding him for putting me through so much pain and if Niall told me one more time how great I was doing I was going to throw that sparkly ring at his stupid head.
My parents were somewhere in the air, and Bobby and Maura were God knows where but I'm sure they heard me screaming wherever they were at.
"Alright Hannah, I can see the head..."
