I woke up in a haze. I barely could see with one of my eyes swollen. God damn my head was pounding. I didn't bother to sit up, I could half see a dark figure standing next to my bed side. They didn't move, it was kind of creepy. I decided to try and fall back asleep but the throbbing of my head was keeping me awake. Suddenly the figure moved closer, there were two now. I didn't know if they were talking or not, I soon found out when the loud voice rolled into my ears.
"Hey, Jess. How ya feelin' doll?" Fuck he was loud, I couldn't make out his voice. It wasn't Dallas, I knew that for sure. My mind was still scattered from last night, I lifted my thumb to the sky in reply. Knowing talking wasn't going to help my situation. My sight was getting better and I could make out a Mickey Mouse on the shirt of my mystery man. It wasn't such a mystery anymore though, Two-bit could never keep his voice down. Should've known.
"Alrighty then, guess I'm just gonna get you some medicine then. Seeing as how your head has gotta be hurtin'." Well no shit Sherlock. Couldn't have guessed by the way I jumped out of my skin when you started talking huh? Why was I upset with Two-bit? He didn't do this to me. Fucking John did, I hope he gets his. Asshole making me feel like shit, making me look like it too. Two-bit came back with my meds and a glass of water. I slowly sat up and took back my lovely pills. I choked a little and coughed a lot. Well, hell. So much for not needing help.
"Are you okay?" The other shadow said. I'd know that voice anywhere, Ponyboy. I guess he had to be feeling better to be here with me. I loved that boy till death and back, but where the hell was Dal?
"Yeah, could someone tell me what happened?" I said half in whisper. Talking didn't seem to hurt as much as I thought it would've. They both where beginning to become clearer now. I guess some of the swelling went down. They both looked at me like they were thinking the same thing. All of a sudden an arm wrapped around me, I looked over to find Dallas waking up. So much for that mystery. His face was all bruised and cut up. He looked like his body ached.
"Hey babe." Dal said in his groggy morning voice. Oh how I loved it. The rumble in his voice this morning sounded different though. It sounded like he was in pain.
"Hiya Dal, how ya feeling?" Two-bit said with a wink.
"Oh I'm feeling just great. There's a sharp pain in my damned side and I can feel the salt of my tongue burn the cuts in my lips." Dally said flopping back over on the bed.
"This is what you get for not taking the meds I gave you." Pony said sitting down on the end of my bed.
"Golly thanks for stating the obvious Pon. Maybe next time I'll listen."
"Yeah, I really don't think you will." Pony said walking out of the room.
"Probably not." I said rolling over and falling back asleep, not finding out what happened like a dumbass.
