The Golden Trio

“Absolutely not!” Jason shouted, slamming his fist on the table.

“But it clearly says here-”

“I don't care what it says Percy! No!”

They had been talking about this for a half hour now, and nothing had been solved. Percy and Annabeth were certain that they had to listen to this letter, but Jason was having none of it. He had gotten Piper and Nico to side with him, while Leo and Hazel were on Percy and Annabeth's side. The rest were undecided.

“You aren't listening.” Percy said, standing up and resting his hands on the table. He leaned towards Jason. “We have to do this. If we don't-”

“I'd rather face death.” Jason spat, crossing his arms. “I'm not dealing with them.”

“He has a point.” Nico said, which made Jason jump. Percy coughed a small laugh, and turned to him. “That would be breaking ancient law. We've already got Greek and Roman demigods together-”

“Which doesn't break any law whatsoever.” Annabeth threw in, standing up next to Percy. “It's just never happened because we always kill each other.”

“Us? Fight?” Jason faked shock. “I can't imagine how that could happen.”

“As sarcastic as he is,” Piper said, slapping his arm, “Jason is right. We barely get along as it is. What will the Egyptians add to this?”

“Obviously something good.” Hazel said, joining the fight. “I mean, who would break ancient law unless the tides would seriously be changed?”

“That's the point.” Jason said, rubbing his face tiredly. “Someone wants the tides to change against us. It's obviously a trap.”

“How do you know that?” Percy asked, crossing his arms. “How could you possible know that?”

“We sniffed you out.” he said, which was true. They had discovered their trap and confronted them. “We're Roman, we're good at finding traps.”

“That's about it.” Percy muttered under his breath, sitting down.

“Excuse me?” Jason asked angrily. “What was that?”

“Oh, will you two stop?!” they both turned to Frank, who had been very quiet until now. “Honestly, if you want a trap, ask son of a war god. No offense, Annabeth.” he added quickly, since Athena was technically battle strategy and war. “But if this were a trap, don't you think they'd be a bit more.....desperate?”

Desperate?” Jason asked, standing up. “Desperate? This couldn't be more desperate!”

“It's urgent.” Frank said flatly. “There's a difference between urgent and desperate. They're not asking for a last line of defense. They're saying hurry our demigod butts up, or they'll be kicked to Tartarus.”

“Thank you Frank.” Annabeth said. “And not-taken.”

“I'm still not siding with you.” he said. “And I'm not saying no, either. I didn't even know that there was another kind of demigod.”

“They're not really demigods.” Nico said. “They're magicians. They channel the power of the god or goddess they follow, and use magic.”

“Wait, so they follow their patron god? Like, stalking?” Leo asked, tugging his collar. “Awkward.”

“Not literally.” Nico rolled his eyes. “They choose a path to take, which means find a god or goddess to study. In other words, they choose who their patron god or goddess is.”
