The plan was going down like this:

Percy was going to be in charge of the water. He would make sure they get across the East River safely, and then stay back in case anyone followed. He would be accompanied by Annabeth. Hazel and Frank would be lookouts as they passed through Brooklyn, keeping an eye out for trouble. Jason and Piper would be the ones navigating to the house, and finally, Leo and Nico would make themselves noticed. Harry, Hermione and Ron would look after the ship, but would be ready if anything bad were to happen.

They all went to bed that night ready for the action tomorrow. Everyone had their weapon under their pillow, and everyone fell asleep almost instantly. Piper dreamed of dining in the sun with Jason, and Jason shared it likewise. Percy dreamed of finally having peace in his life, and that he and Annabeth could live together. Annabeth dreamed of designing their house, making every detail noted. Everyone slept well......everyone, except Leo.

While the others were sucking their thumbs in Neverland, Leo couldn't manage to sleep. His nervous energy was starting to come back, and he didn't know what to do about it. So, he got out of bed, walked up to the main deck, and leaned on the railing by Festus. Leo looked out across the water, wondering about everything. Eventually his mind trailed off to Calypso, as it usually did. He slumped his head against Festus, sighing with annoyance. What could he do?

“Good question.”

“Thanks, Festus.” he said dreamily, then stopped. “Wait, did you just talk?”

“No, it was definitely the water talking. OF COURSE IT WAS ME!”

Leo jumped back in shock, tripping and falling on his butt. “Bu-bu-but y-you, you...”

The metal dragon head twisted its mouth into a smile. Could it really do that? “Cat got your tongue, Leo, or does some other feisty feline have it instead?” Festus laughed, leaning its head back and blowing fire into the air.

Leo slowly stood up. “How did you know what I was thinking?”

Festus tilted its head slightly. “How do I know- oh! You think this is actually Festus!” It said, chuckling. “I forgot to tell you about that. Say hello to your mighty leader, Leo!” It looked down. “I'd bow, but as you can see, I'm a bit bodiless at the moment.”

“Wait,” Leo's head was spinning. “You're the thing that's been telling us what to do?”

“I wouldn't say telling,” it smirked, “because you always have a choice. And no, this head has not been telling you what to do. The only thing this thing can do is breath fire and oil itself.”

“Hey!” Leo shouted defensively, then sighed and rubbed his forehead. “I'm going insane.”

“You're losing your head, huh? Can I borrow your body when your done?” it cackled, spinning in circles. “Anyways, this thing is not guidingyou, as I would call it. The thing possessing it is.”

Now Leo was lost. “Hold on, hold on. So you're telling me that I'm talking to Festus, who is not alive, because the thing tell- guiding us is possessing it?”

“Yes, except I'm not a thing. I'm not human, oh no, but I'm still a person.”

“Really? Because I thought that person was a word used for humans, last time I checked the dictionary.”

“Last time I read inter-galactic dictionaries and books, person was describes as a being, except animals don't count.” Festus fired back, then sighed. “This is off topic. Look, I have all the time in the world. Actually, the universe....well, all of them, I guess....but that's aside the point. I can be here forever, but you can't, so just be quiet and let me talk, alright?”
