The Heir Game

Chapter 10

     "But - " Artemis froze, "Opal - she, well..."
      Opal snapped her fingers and a gun fired form the wall, straight at Butler's heart. Butler waited for the bullet to kill him, but it never even reached him. Myrex lay dead on the floor, Trinity staring at his body in open horror and despair.
     "You monster!" She screamed at Opal, flinging herself towards the pixie. Butler grabbed her before she reached Opal, and slung her over his shoulder. He did the same with Artemis, and was running out of the room faster than you could say Madam Ko.
     Holly, carrying the screen on which Foaly was on, and Vinyaya were on his tail.
      "Left!" Holly shouted, and Butler careened to the left. They continued this until Holly yelled, "Stop!"
     He stopped next to the door reading 183 and dropped Artemis and Trinity. He slammed his weight onto the door and it crashed open, leaving Trinity gaping.
"Come on!" Holly and Vinyaya ran into the room, and Butler shoved the door back in place.
"This should hold 'em out for a while," he said, "Trinity, what's going on?"
She burst into tears.
Holly patted her back, "Trin, I know that this is hard for you - especially because of Myrex, but we need the information. We can grieve for Myrex as soon as we are out of this situation."
She knew she was being harsh, but there was a crisis at hand. Trinity sniffled and nodded.
    "Opal - the real Opal Koboi - killed my parents when we were just kids," she said softly, "she asked us to work with her because she thought that something along the lines of Stockholm syndrome would occur. But we had each other and so we didn't fall into shock. So secretly we worked against her. We found out her plans. She created a clone, yes, but this one was special. She found a way to take her soul out of her body - a piece of it - and put it into this clone. So it's alive and it wants revenge for its mistress. Also, it's heartless, because Opal didn't put any emotions into it."
    Holly slumped, "Great. This is just great."
    As soon as she said it, the door gave way - the metal groaning and snapping.
    "It just got better," Butler said.
