Chapter Six

Change then with my mind?!

How?

Right so here I am staring into my own eyes through the bathroom mirror which looks weird in all way you look at it. I focus all my attention onto my eyes, block everything out from the outside world and draw all my last remaining energy from within to focus on my eyes. I feel inside me, my blood stopping for a single second and everything that is happening inside of me stop. Just for a second, I thought I could hear the clockworks of my body still slowly ticking away with the energy coursing through my neurons in my brain all joining up to meet a two points. My eyes.

I blinked. Everything resumed. Time began again. Still looking at myself, I focused on my eyes. They had changed. I smiled and let out a long breath which I didn’t even know I was holding in. Letting go of the sink, I looked at my phone and it said 7:40. I stuffed my shoes on and grabbed my blazer and bag, ran downstairs, said goodbye to my sister and walked into yet another cold, crispy morning. I placed my bag on top of the bin and put my blazer on. Just as I was grabbing my bag, my sister walked out of the door.

I looked at her, wide eyed.

Biggest mistake.

“Ummm, sis, what is going on with your eyes?”She asked me.

“What do you mean? There’s nothing wrong with my eyes!”I replied

“There colour...there blue and purple...” she gasped

“NO! Really? That can’t be possible!” I replied trying to lie.

“Yes, really, sis! Well you can sort it out, I’m off to school” she said cheerily to me

I ran back inside, ran all the way up to the bathroom and looked into the mirror. And of course, there they were. My eyes had indeed changed back.

I instantly messaged Max and he replied back.

Max: Meet me where we met before. ASAP!

I ran down the stairs, locking the door and walked so fast to the school.

I walked discreetly to behind B block. There he was: leaning against the wall. Of course, all during my walk to school, I had kept down trying not to get anyone’s attention.

“Hey, got anything to cure me?” I asked as I was walking up to him.

“Whoa! Yes, I do in fact!” He gleams at me

“Great! What is it?” I ask

“This” He says whilst smiling

He starts to walk up to me and I walk up to him. He stops in front of me, bends his head down and kisses me.

I’m shocked at first but then I embrace it and start to kiss him back. It feels like it goes so slowly but it’s over in a matter of seconds. We both pull back and I look at him.

“So...”I whisper

“Yeah...” He whispers but I can hear him loudly

“Well, I’ll see you later” I tell him

 I walk away, thinking about what has just happened. “That was extraordinary.”

“Oh it was”

That is Max! I could sense the smile growing on his face when I heard him think it. I smiled as well and continued my walk towards F block.

I saw Teagan sitting there on one of the bench tables.

“What took you so long?”She called out

“Oh sorry had to catch up on a few things!” I laughed. “Why don’t we go to tutor? It’s freezing out here!”

“Yeah sure!” Teagan said whilst she gathered up her things.

I stood where I was and waited for Teagan to get to where I was. When she did arrive, we walked to our tutor via the library as I had to give back a couple of books. As we were walking out of the library, I knocked into Max again like I did last time and the time before that.

“Oh sorry, again!” I chuckled

“Ha-ha! We keep doing this, bumping into each other! Must be a sign! Anyway I gotta get to the library so I’ll see you later!” He replied. As he left he stuffed a note into my hand.

Read when alone

His voice in my head was so calming.

I looked at him and smiled. Suppose I’ll be going to the toilet at break then.

Me and Teagan walked into our tutor room and played some Sopio but I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened earlier and what is inside that note.

Break time came, thankfully! I walked out of the classroom quickly and made my way to F block toilets. I locked the cubicle and grabbed the note out of my blazer pocket. I opened the note, after minutes of debating what it would say. When I did eventually open it I had a shock.

It read:

I know you may not feel the same the same way I feel about you. I wanted you to know this though. After the kiss that happened this morning, my feelings have changed and I now know why we keep bumping into each other. It’s a sign. A sign of the future and what is meant to be. If you believe me then you would still be reading this note. Our future is complicated. Rumours are starting as you read this. The kiss we did, this morning, people may have saw and have told people who has told people and so on. I know what you have been through these past years at school but you have an extraordinary life. Dreams of many but the most prominent is that you dream of a man. A man who would take care of you, love you in all the way you want. I believe as I say, after our kiss, that I am that man. The soul mate principle. Were not soul mates which hurts me but we can break that. I can feel the cracks opening which allows this. I don’t care what people may say about you and me. I don’t care if I lose friends but what I am trying to say in three simple words to explain it all in. Is that, I love you!

I was speechless. A tear made its way onto the note. I had to find him. Now!

I cleared myself up and walked out of the bathroom. I messaged Max.

Me: Meet me outside C block now!

I walked over t C block and a few seconds after I had arrived I saw Max run up to me.

“What’s happened?”

“Nothing, I just read the note you gave me! And I say I love you!” I say trying to keep the tears in

“Oh Clarissa!” He breathed out

Before I knew it, we were hugging. He leant down and kissed me on the cheek. I felt so complete but something was missing.

“See you in science!” He whispered into my ear. “Oh, say yes!” He called out

The bell went and I made my way to my science class. As I walked into the classroom, people started to look at me. I sat down on my stall and took my things out of my bag. Katie my science buddy came up to me.

“Hey!” I said to her

“Hey! Is it true?” She asked

“What?” I replied

“You and Max?”

“Yes” I smiled at her whilst saying it and then I look over at Max and beam one thought to him,
