As I drank and drank the more she became limp in Max’s arms and soon all three of us was on the floor with me still attached to Ellie. I tried to peel myself away after a minute of me drinking her blood but it just tasted so good and I carried on not caring what Ellie thought. Max allowed me to do it otherwise he would’ve pulled me away from her. I suppose he didn’t like her as well and that he has seen what she has done to people over the years. I was happy, not happy more like ecstatic that I got to drink her blood which tasted magnificent may I add.

I finally let go after forcing myself but by now she would be dead as I have drunken too much of her blood. I didn’t mind even though when I did stand up to regain my balance, I looked down at her body which Max was still holding and I felt horror in me. I suppose this is what killing someone feels like, the wretched guilt that looms over you for a while but I couldn’t stop myself and this is what I am now, a vampire and I have to live with it.

Just for a moment just then, I didn’t want to be a vampire anymore and I wanted my old life back where I still liked Max as a friend and me and Teagan was just hanging out with each other alone at school occasionally talking to people and other friends. I would walk home and open the front door to my home and not Max’s, say hello to my parents and then relax in my bedroom where I would spend the rest of the afternoon. I didn’t like who I was for that moment where I looked down at Ellie’s body and I kind of guess that Max saw me with my blank expression when he looked up at me. I heard him sigh and saw him place the body of Ellie Smyth carefully onto the floor where he then walked over to me and enveloped me in a warm, comforting hug. He kissed me on the cheek and walked back over to the body. I gave out a long breath and joined Max beside him where he was looking at her neck.

“We gotta do something about that.” I said bluntly

“Yeah we do.” He replied letting a breath

Max stood up after bending down for while examining her neck. I saw him walk towards the bench which was across the park and sit down on it. Sometime later, I rose from my crouching position and walked over to Max who was sitting down on the bench.

“Well, what do you think?” I asked as I sat down

“Hmm, well the puncture holes will clear up soon even though she is dead and we could report the body. We would just say that we stumbled upon it.” Max replied

“Yeah but didn’t anyone see you at break?” I ask concerned

“No, no one saw us walk over here which is good I suppose.” He comforts me

“Well we better phone them up then.” I ask

I saw Max take out his phone and typed in 999.

“Hello, could I have the police service please…..oh hello, yeah me and my girlfriend have just found a body as we were just going to the park for our break…. Millchase Academy….. Max and Clarissa….our head teacher is called Mrs Eva….yeah we will stay at the park….okay thank you.” Max said stopping and starting

We stood up and waited by the body until the police came. We saw the police cars come down the road and I looked over to the school where I saw the head and deputy head walk over to us. I held hands with Max as we embraced the full force of the people coming towards us. We discussed what we were going to say to both of them whilst we were waiting for the police so we wouldn’t stumble with our story. I just hope this is done and over with.

I looked down at her neck and saw that the two holes that were there five minutes ago had now long disappeared from existence. When I looked away from the body I noticed that I had zoned out as Max was talking to the teachers and police. I shook myself out of it and rejoined the conversation.

Max was in the middle of telling how we came to find the body of Ellie Smyth.

“…we came down here to get away from all of the other people but we asked one of the teachers first if we could. I suppose she wanted to get away as well maybe to have a moment alone or something but we didn’t know she was down here. Clarissa opened the gate and gasped as she saw the body. I ran over to her to see if she was still alive but she didn’t have a pulse and that’s when I called the police.” Max recalled the events that we had previously discussed earlier

“Is that right Miss Ekins?” One of the police men said

“Yeah, yeah it is.” I answered

“Thank you. We will call for a ambulance to pick up the body and notify the parents of the deceased. We won’t need any more information from you two thank you.” He said

They walked away along with the two teachers and we stood there for a bit to get ourselves together. We both looked down at the body and dismissed any more thoughts about it and walked towards the school, towards our next lesson. The bell had long gone and there was only fifteen minutes left of Science. We walked into the classroom, and strode towards our seats as the rest of the class continued with their practicals. I and Max walked to the teacher after setting our things down on the floor and on the table to ask if we had missed anything important and if there was any point in starting the practical that the rest of the class were doing?

So it turns out that were staying after school to catch up on work and we just joined our tables group. The rest of the day went very slowly which made it worse because as more and more people found out about me and Max finding Ellie’s body and we had to repeat what we kept saying to loads of other people. We both soon shortened it as we got fed up of repeating ourselves to so many people. We had our little catch up session with Miss after school and we were let out early. Teagan had told us at lunch how her experience was that lunch and she also added that Alex wanted to meet up afterschool so she wouldn’t be waiting for us. We made our way home after a what seemed a pleasantly nice day after satisfying me after my unexpected hunger phase and not putting up with the constant drooling of the now what dead Ellie.

We still hadn’t figured out why I had a hunger phase and we both want to find out but for now, we just want to relax and put everything behind us. For now, we walked home hand in hand.
