Chapter Seven

Several days after I had kissed Max and said yes to about me and him being a couple, everyone kept coming up to me and asking if I wanted to be their friend and hang out with them at parties or days out. I just simply ignored them. I love my friends that I have at the moment! Why would I be friends with a bunch of people who will try and change me? I know Max is friends with them but as he said, be yourself. They will get bored of me soon anyway. I couldn’t leave Teagan on her own.

Me and Max kept in touch but we were always busy with homework and revision for school as our final exams were coming up soon. I sat on my bed typing away on my laptop when a message popped up on Facebook. I clicked on the tab and I saw a little Max box at the bottom of my screen. I clicked on it and saw what he had put.

Max: Hi, we need to talk...ASAP...

Me: Hi...is everything ok? Meet by the shops in half an hour?

Max: Ummm, yeah yeah that’s okay...see you soon :)

Me: See you

I saved my work which I had been doing for hours and turned my laptop off. I got on some trousers as I didn’t really want to go out in PJ trousers and ran down the stairs whilst trying to pull my hair up. I grabbed my pair on converses and quickly stuffed them on. I shouted to my mum that I was going out for a minute and I walked out of the door not knowing what Max has to say.

10 minutes later I arrived at the shops and waited in the car park for Max. A couple of minutes later Max walked up to me and hugged me but then quickly drew back. I looked at him in shock as to why he had done that.

“Follow me, I need to tell you something” He said looking down at me.

I nodded and followed him for about 5 minutes and we stopped on a path where a green, lifeless field was in front of us.

“I can’t do this...” He whispered

“What?! But...” I stuttered. I can’t believe he was saying this

“I just can’t! Something comes up in the pack and well I have to leave you in case they come after you. I am kicking myself inside to do this and it is killing me but I’m doing it for you!” He said to me with a nervous hitch in his voice. I could see the tears starting to form in his eyes.

“If you’re doing this to save me then ok I accept it but I’m going to miss you!” I say with tears streaming down my cheek as I say it

“Oh don’t cry, I thought you would have taken it worse! That’s me though! We will see each other in school and this is going to have consequences at school for me. People will soon find out something is wrong when were not hanging out tomorrow or talking as much as we did. They think you’re a beautiful lovely girl and that they think I’m lucky to have such a girl in my life. When they ask me who broke it up I will say I did because I did. I know you’re going to be upset Clarissa but I will sort things out in the pack. Trust me on this. I have to go now see you tomorrow.” Max explained to me in a hollow voice. I could feel that he really didn’t enjoy doing this with his feelings beaming across to me every second. It hurt me to feel what he was thinking. I tried to reach out but he had blocked his mind from me. I looked up with red eyes and saw him walking away from me. I ran after him and gave him a long kiss. The last kiss in a while.

“Thank you” He whispered in my ear as we parted and then he gave me a quick peck on the cheek and walked off. I stood there with tears pouring down my face. Luckily I knew where I was so I walked slowly to my house my head dropped as I didn’t want anyone seeing that I had been crying. I shuffled against the pavement not caring if I was wearing my shoes out. I was of course extremely upset but I knew he had to do it for a reason. The kiss still mingled on my lips but was fastley erasing itself. I tried to keep hold of it for as long as possible but when I reached my house it had disappeared from existence. Forever.
