Chapter 18

Adrien pulled up to the house, the gravel under the tires rumbling. He stopped and Marinette got out and carried Emit inside the house. She put Emit in his room, him still asleep, and walked out her room and sat on the edge of the bed. Adrien pursed his lips as he watched her walked form his room to theirs. "Alya." She walked over to him. "If Emit is acting up you know how to handle him right?"

"Yep and Rose knows how to handle things like diapers and Mari has bottles stored up. Just need to heat them on the stove." She smiled and walked to Emits room while Adrien walked to his. Alya quickly ran to the rest of the class and got them all to Emits room where Max had the camera in their room set up on his laptop. He has cameras in every room of the house.

Adrien stood in the doorway and watched Marinette as she just curled up into a ball on the bed. He sighed and walked into the room. He lied down behind her and held her waist while she used her arms as a pillow. She let out a shaky sigh and Adrien pursed his lips and kissed her neck gently. "It's okay. They didn't hurt you."

"I-I know but it still so terrifying. They want to know every detail when they shouldn't even know as much as we told them."

"I know but that's their job. They need to know every detail but we shouldn't let them."

"Can I just be alone right now?"

"I told you, you'll never be alone again." Adrien held her waist tighter and she sighed and Adrien intertwined their legs. He wasn't going to let her get away again. "Why do you really want to be alone?"

"I'm never alone in this god forsaken house."

"If you haven't noticed, Max has cameras in every room." Adrien whispered but the camera didn't catch it. "We just care about you."

"I-I know that but I just need some me time. I don't need to go live with my parents just a few minutes."

Adrien sighed but let go of her waist and stood up. "Come get me when you're done being sad. I need my smiley Mari back." He gave her a warm smile and walked out of the room and closed the door behind himself. He walked into Emits room and sure enough saw the class looking through t cameras. He grabbed Max's computer and closed it. "Leave her alone. She wants to be alone so let her."

"Aren't you worried she'll try something?"

"Yes but if she asks for privacy I'll give it to her so please, respect her wish." The class sighed and nodded and let Marinette be. But Max couldn't do it. He knew something bad was going to happen. He connected into her phone to see what she was up too.

Marinette sighed and bit her nails as she paced the room. She looked at her phone that sat on the bed and grew scared as it starts to ring. She walked over to it and slowly picked it up and answered. "H-Hello?"

"Marinette." She gulped at the deep voice that called her every time before. "Have you found his identity?"

"Y-Yes."

"Good." Chat Blanc smirked. "You will meet Misfortune and me at midnight tonight at the park by your parents house."

"H-How do you know there's a park by my parents house?"

"We know everything about you Marinette. If you give us false information or try anything to get us gone. We will kill your whole family. Your parents, husband, child, friends. Don't test us."

"O-okay. The park at midnight." Marinette gulped as the line went dead. She turned her phone off and sat the edge of the bed and hugged herself and shook in fear of what would happen.

"Marinette what did you do!" Tikki yelled at her.

"P-please don't yell."

"Why are you going to give him away like that! He's your family! Who knows what Hawkmoth could do to him!"

"I'm not giving Adrien away, I'm giving Hawkmoth something better."

"And what's better then Chat Noirs identity?"

"Ladybugs."

"Marinette that's crazy! He could kill you!"

"If it saves my family I'll do it."

"But he could kill you! And I don't want to lose you, you're my favorite."

"I'm sorry Tikki but sometimes heroes need to sacrifice themselves to protect the ones they love." Marinette sighed and curled up into a ball and texted Adrien for a hug. He walked in and hugged her tight. Soon he got out of bed to get into pajamas and Marinette did the same. He fell asleep soon after they got into bed but Marinette couldn't. When midnight rolled around she got out of bed and got dressed into proper clothing. She looked at Adrien and pursed her lips.

"Marinette are you sure this is wise?" Tikki asked in a whisper.

"Yeah. If it protects him, this is the best thing I can do." Marinette kissed his forehead and left a small note on the nightstand. She crept through the house, trying to get to the door without waking anyone up but someone was up the entire time she was.

"Marinette." She flinched as she started to open the door. "What're you doing?"

"I-I'm just going out."

"At midnight?" Max crossed his arms.

"Yes."

"Why're you lying?"

"I'm not lying." Max walked down to her and put his hands on her shoulders. He was taller then her now. Puberty hit him like a train but he still need his glasses but it only made him better looking since he filled them out.

"Marinette, I know you're going to give away his identity."

She let out a shaky sighed and moved his hands away from her. "I-it's not like that. I'm giving away his, I'm giving away mine."

"That's insane!" Max started to yell but lowered his voice. "Who knows what could happen to you. You could go missing again or even worse, killed. If you think you're going to do any justice you won't. Adrien was a complete mess when you were kidnapped by them and was two steps away from jumping off a cliff."

"I'm just trying to save my family. Please Max, don't tell anyone."

"I'm going to tell everyone."

"Please Max, I need to trust you. Please don't tell anyone about this or where I went. I'll be back before you know it."

"How do you know?"

"You have to have hope right." She smiled at him before opening the door again.

"Wait." She looked at him. "I won't tell anyone but if anything bad does happen and you need help take this." He handed her a small gadget and she looked at it, confused. "I know it's not much but is a communicator. You pursed this button and you call me and then this one plays sounds that make you happy like Emits giggles, Alyas talk of Ladybug, Ninos music, Alix and Kim's bickering, Adrien just ranting. It'll keep you sane."

"Thank you Max but, I won't need it. I'll be back."

"Please just take it. Adrien would kill me if he found out I saw you leave and did nothing."

"Fine." She sighed and clipped it into the inside of her bra. "See you later Max." She left the house and ran from her so her parents in a few minutes since is wasn't very far. She walked into the park and only saw two people there.
