~Jesselin~
Matt helped me out of his car and held my hand as we walked up to the front door. He seemed almost nervous, and that made me edgy.
"What's wrong?" I asked him. He looked down at me and shook his head, but squeezed my hand. We rang the bell and Matt slipped his arm around my waist while we were waiting. I twisted my hands together nervously.
"Don't be nervous," Matt whispered, kissing my forehead. I just sighed.
Then the door opened and Matt's mom was standing there.
"Hi! You must be Jesselin!" she said cheerily. "I'm Lynne." She held out her hand and I shook it nervously. She glanced down at my wrist and up at Matt, almost nervously. He squeezed his arm tighter around my waist and she nodded before leading us in.
"The party's in the backyard dear. I just need Matt's help with this dish. It's too big for me to carry out into the yard," Lynne smiled. I smiled back shyly and made my way into the backyard.
In the yard, people were dancing and chatting excitedly. I stood awkwardly next to the cooler, not knowing what to do. I wasn't expecting Matt to be pulled away from me so soon, and now I was ready to puke.
"Hi!" someone said. I turned to see a pretty brunette standing next to me. She looked to be four years older than me.
"Hi," I said nervously. She smiled and said, "I'm Laura Jayne, Matt's older sister. You must be Jesselin."
"How did you-" I started but she interrupted.
"Because you're the only nice and pretty girl he's ever dated. Plus you look totally lost." Laura said. I smiled and she took my hand kindly, leading me over to a table and motioning for me to sit next to her. This table was full of girls who looked to be Laura's age.
"These are some friends from college and some cousins," she said to me. "The blonde and redhead are friends from college, Jaynie and Becca. Then the other three are my cousins Haylee, Briana, and Sara. Obviously they're my cousins, because they're all brunettes." I laughed at the end.
"Ladies!" Laura said, getting their attention. "This is the lady of the hour, Jesselin."
They all said hi and struck up a conversation about Matt.
"Does he treat you right?" Haylee asked.
"Is he a sweetheart?" Sara interrupted.
"Is he good in bed?" Becca asked, winking at me. I just laughed.
"Becca!" Briana said, laughing. Then she turned to me, curiosity all over her face.
"Is he?" she asked.
"Alright enough!" Laura said, covering her ears. "I don't want to hear if my baby brother's good in bed!"
"Why not?" Haylee asked. "Aren't you curious?"
"Nope." Laura said.
"Not even a little?" Briana said curiously.
"No!" Laura exclaimed and we all started laughing.
After ten minutes I was thirsty, so I excused myself and headed over to the cooler to grab a drink. As I was bending down to pick up a can, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I looked behind me and saw a little boy there, no older than four.
"Hi," I said, taking a can of iced tea and shutting the cooler. I turned around to face him.
"Hi," he replied. "Are you an angel?"
I was taken aback by his question. "No. Why?" I asked.
"My mommy always said that when people have marks on their arms that means that they're angels. And the marks are because they're sad about how sad the world is."
