~Marie~

Every morning before I went to class, I brought Jesselin some breakfast in bed. Every morning she dumped it out the window when I left and wouldn't leave her bed after that. It was a very tedious project. I'd also check her arms, legs, hips and throat for new scars but it was as if she just didn't have the energy to even pick up a blade. She'd cry in her sleep, but she stopped screaming. Instead she'd trash her room. Five days before the doctors recommended she get back to class, I started bringing it up to her.

"Hey," I said, walking into her room with a bowl of dry cereal. She didn't reply, just huddled into her bundle of blankets.

"Look," I said, sitting down on her bed, "You have to get back to class in a few days. You have to start getting up and about, okay?" Jesselin didn't answer, she just stared at the wall.

"Jesselin," I said firmly, sick of her give up on life attitude, "You have to get up and move on with your life. I know that you just went through the most tragic thing probably in your life, but that's life. Tragedy is a part of life. But so is happiness. I bet if you get up and move about you'll start to feel better. Okay?"

"Where's Matt?" she mumbled. I sighed and finally snapped. "He hasn't been to see you in over a week! Move on! You can't define your happiness on whether he's here or not, okay? Stop asking for him! That's all you say when you finally open your mouth and I'm sick of it! If you want him so bad, phone him!" I threw her phone on her bed and stormed out, taking my things and heading off to my art class.

After Marie's outburst, I hid myself further into my blankets and cried. All I could think was she was sick of me. I heard someone enter my bedroom, and I could tell by the way they were walking it was a man. I didn't even think about what I was doing, I just jumped out of my bed, ran at them, and crashed my lips against whoever was standing there. I just needed the confirmation that at least someone in this world still cared for me, no matter how I was acting. Whoever I was kissing froze for a second before wrapping their strong arms around my waist and kissing me back. After a minute we broke apart to gasp for air and stared at the shocked face in front of me. It was Jaeson.

"Oh my god," we both said before letting go of each other and taking a few steps back.

"What just happened?" he asked me. I shrugged, my face white.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. Then he took a few steps towards me and crashed his lips against mine again, slamming my bedroom door shut in the process. I didn't know what was wrong with me because soon we were both stripped off and in my bed. I was straddling Jaeson, pressing kisses all over his face and chest while he ran his fingers up and down my body. I just kept kissing him while he kept touching me and let him go all the way.

I hadn't seen Jess in over a week and I felt horrible. I meant to give her space for a few hours, but a few hours turned into a few days and before I knew it a week had passed. I felt extremely guilty for neglecting her, but I was scared she hated me. So, I stopped by a flower stand and bought her a dozen white roses and put a single red one in the centre. I hoped she'd like it, since she's really not a flowery kind of girl.

I showed up at her front door and knocked. A few minutes later she opened up, wearing only a pair of knickers and a crop top.

"Hi," I said.

"Hi," she replied tonelessly. I knew the face she was giving me and I hated it. She pulled this blank emotionless face whenever she was upset and trying to act like nothing bothered her.

"I brought you flowers," I told her, bringing them out from behind my back. I held them out to her and she took them cautiously, acting as if she could break if she moved too fast, which was true I guess. I saw her engagement still sparkling on her ring finger which made me internally sigh in relief.
