~Jesselin~
Five months later
Matt and I had been going strong for five months. There was no more drama from Leigh-Anne, and we only had the occasional fight. After that night at the beach there was no more mention of kids and I was fortunate enough to take after my aunt and not show much at all. Just a small bump that stuck out between my hips.
I woke up this morning to find Matt laying there, playing with my hair. I had my arms around his waist and my head resting on his shoulder.
"Morning, babe," he said.
"Morning," I whispered back.
"I have to go see one of my professors but I didn't want to wake you," he told me. I nodded sleepily and kissed his cheek, pulling away from him so he could get up. Matt climbed out of my bed and stretched, picking up his shirt off the floor and slipping it over his head. He pulled off his pyjama pants and slipped on a pair of skinny jeans and his shoes. Then he kissed my forehead and left. I sighed happily and dozed off again, waking up twenty minutes later and getting ready for class.
I pulled on some skinny jeans and my Pierce The Veil tee shirt and Sleeping with Sirens hoodie. I ran a brush through my hair and brushed my teeth before putting on my shoes and grabbing my bag and phone.
"See you later!" I called to Marie and Chloe as I headed out the door.
It was a fresh spring morning so I thought it might be nice to walk across the quad instead of the usual dirt path I took to my creative writing class.
While I was walking, I felt something hit me in the head from behind. I stumbled and before I could regain my balance, Leigh-Anne stuck her foot out and tripped me. I went flying and landed on my stomach. When I did, I heard this loud ripping sound and suddenly it felt like my stomach was on fire. I started screaming and everyone stared in shock. Then someone shouted, "Call an ambulance! She's bleeding!" Then I looked down at the puddle of blood I was sitting in and started sobbing uncontrollably while shrieking in pain. Ten minutes later an ambulance showed up to take me away, sedating me so I'd stop screaming and the pain would go away.
~Marie~
My phone rang with an unknown number.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Is this Marie Foley?" a woman asked.
"Yes, who is this?" I said.
"This is Anna Bateman from Memorial Hospital. Your friend Jesselin Lopez was checked in today and you are the closest person to her, since her fiancé is unavailable at the moment. I'm just calling to let you know that she's here." Anna said calmly.
"Wait, what? What happened?" I asked in a panic.
"She fell on the quad, and the placenta detached. She had a miscarriage. I'm sorry," Anna said softly. My stomach dropped.
"I-I'll be right there," I said quickly, hanging up.
"What's going on?" Chloe asked after seeing my facial expression.
"It's Jess. She's in the hospital. She had a miscarriage." I explained, phoning Matt. After the fifth ring, he picked up.
"Hello?" he answered.
"Matt, come get us right now," I demanded.
"Why? What's wrong?" he asked.
"Jesselin's in the hospital and we need you to drive us there," I explained.
"What? Why?" he exclaimed outraged.
"Just shut up and get over here!" I ordered.
"I'll be right there," he said and hung up quickly. Chloe and I pulled on our shoes and jackets before running out the door and waiting for Matt. He pulled up two minutes later and we jumped in his car before he sped off.
