Chapter 37 ~ What the Council wants

~ Justin's POV ~

Melisa is taking awfully long in the bathroom, and she just has to take the blue paint out of her hair.

I sniffed the air and then realized that I couldn't catch her scent. I tried mind linking her and that didn't work either...

I started to look around the room that we were in and looked at the girls bathroom door...I couldn't feel her.

"Damla and Sabrina, can you two please check on Melisa in the bathroom? I can't catch her scent or mind link her! Please!" I pleaded them.

"Why can't you mind link her? There must be something wrong, let's go Sabrina." Damla said and the two of them ran towards the bathroom. When they reached the door, her scent hit me. What the...why couldn't I smell her scent like twenty seconds ago?

They opened the door and looked around. They let out a relieved breathe and I could hear them talk.

"Justin couldn't catch your scent or mind link you? Isn't that a bit weird?" Damla asked Melisa.

"Oh...he couldn't? That is weird, I was just here, trying to get the paint out of my hair but it took a bit longer." I heard her sweet and soft voice say.

I sensed something odd when she said that, like if she was lying.

I shook that thought off and walked towards them.

"Hey babe, is the paint out of your hair?" I asked her as I came to a stop.
"Is it?" She asked me and I checked if there was any paint left, "I don't see blue paint." I told her and she nodded.

"Should we go?" She asked us with a straight face as she stepped out of the bathroom leaving us there without hearing an answer.

'What was that?'
I saw Damla giving me a confused look and I furrowed my eyebrows.
'I don't know.'  We followed her to the boys and we went home.

We all hugged Sabrina when we brought her home. Melisa and Sabrina hugged each other for a while and cried a bit, we said our bye's and wished Sabrina good luck in her new city and school.

When we entered our house my phone went off. I fished my phone out of my pocket and saw an unknown number on the screen. I furrowed my eyebrows at it but answered.

"Hello?"

"Hi Justin! I was wondering if I could come over at yours tomorrow? To like...work on our homework." I heard Harper's voice say through the phone.

How did she get my number?

"Uhh yeah, sure...who gave you my number?" I saw Melisa giving me a 'Whats wrong?' Look when she hang her coat on the coat rack, I shook my head telling her it was okay. She gave me a small smile which made me smile as well. I didn't know Harper was talking until I heard her call my name.

"Justin? Are you there?"

"Ehh yes, what did you say?"

"I told you that I got your number from Christina at school today."

Melisa walked up the stairs leaving the others and me in the living room.

"Ohh okay, I gotta go Harper. I'll see you tomorrow." I said and I heard her say "bye!" Before I hung up.

I walked after Melisa and saw that the door of her room was open, so I walked in. She was staring out of her window.
