I reacted quickly, shielding Percy with my body. Turning to metal, I put my back to the explosion, hoping to cover my brother. I winced when a piece of shrapnel found it's way into my back, but not too deep.

After the initial damage had been done, I turned back to normal and lied on my stomach in the burnt grass. Ezra removed his wings from around Nico, and watched as the young boy ran over to his brother.

Ezra walked over to me and helped me up. I winced as I stood up, the shrapnel was digging into my back even more. "Are you alright?" Ezra asked me, searching me for any signs of blood or injury.

"I'm fine, just a bit of shrapnel." I said, pushing his hands away from my back. Nico ran over and hugged me tightly around my legs. I bent down and gave him a small kiss on the head. Ezra was doing the same to Percy.

I turned and looked at the damage done. The yard was now black, some of the grass was still green but singed. Against the old mansion's wall was a pile of bodies, all of the peculiars that had lived in this loop with us.

"We should probably get help," Ezra said. "We have a list of the loops and their numbers in the kitchen. I nodded and picked Nico up. All four of us walked into the house.

I took note of the damage inside. There was a rocking chair overturned, and the table was in splinters. A bloody hand print was displayed in the middle of the bare wall, as a reminder of the horrible event that had took place only minutes ago.

I shuddered, still staring at the hand print. Cut it out, I told myself. You don't have time to remember. Ezra noticed that I had stopped, so he backtracked. He grabbed my hand, looking at me knowingly.

"C'mon, she's not here. She can't hurt you anymore." I nodded and moved on. We reached the kitchen, and we headed towards the special phone that the ymbrynes had designed for peculiars to use.

Ezra ran his hand down the list of phone numbers, stopping on a number. Alma LeFay Peregrine, September 3, 1940-- Carinholm, Wales, the label read. "We've met Peregrine before, remember Percy?" He looked down at the child, and Percy grinned a toothy smile back and nodded.

"She was really pretty!" He told Ezra. Ezra chuckled and ruffled his hair. "You're right, she was." He told him, and he dialed the number.

The ringer was taking a while. Percy was tapping his foot expectantly, and Nico was playing with my hair. I was twisting my snakebites with my teeth, still worked up by memories.

Finally, the phone was answered. "Hello. Miss Peregrine--"

"Hello, Ezra, Iris." We turned around to see Alma Peregrine standing behind us, a grim look on her face.
