Chapter 7 ~ Simple Happiness

"Kawawa naman yung babaeng yun."

"Baka hiniwalayan ng boyfriend?"

Digong was with his gang and they were on the way to their hang out place. His head turns towards the person that they were talking about. It dawned to him that the girl looked very familiar. After a few more seconds of staring, he recognizes the girl. 

Leni!

He walks towards her eliciting a question from Yasay.

"Oi Boss saan ka pupunta?"

He stops and turns urging them to hurry on as he flicks his hand.

"Mauna na kayo. May naiwan kasi ako. Susunod nalang ako." he lamely excuses himself. They nod and he waits until the group disappears from sight.

He slowly walks in front of her and half kneels.

"Maria Leonor."

She looks up at him with a tear streaked face.

"Je - Digong!"

She hugs him and continues to cry. He pats her back and holds her tenderly. He could feel her shuddering form against his body.

"Ui ano bang nangyari?"

She hugs him tighter. It has been months since they last met and although this wasn't how he imagined their reunion, he somehow felt relieved by her presence.

"Shhh...'wag ka nang umiyak." he whispered against her ear.

He tried to calm Leni down but she only cried even harder.

"Sinong nanakit sayo? Uupakan ko talaga ang gago!"

She doesn't answer him.

"Naku lokong Bongbong yan ah? Gulpihin ko siya!"

He asks knowing that the two have been much closer lately.

"Magsabi ka lang ng pangalan...bukas lagutan ko na ng hinga. Patayin ko yan!"

Leni holds his shoulder and slightly pushes him away.

Her mouth twitches.

"Baliw ka ba?" She asks him.

And then she starts to laugh.

Digong blinks surprised.

"Ako? Yung baliw? Sigurado ka?"

"Bakit ka ba nagsasabi ng mga ganyan!"

"Kasi ayokong nakikita kang malungkot. Kapag malungkot ka nagagalit ako. Gusto kong saktan yung nanakit sayo."

She scoffs and looks away, "Baliw ka talaga."

"Bakit ako lang? Ikaw din naman ah, baliw."

Suddenly, she glared at him, "Di ako baliw ah!"

"Baliw ka." He smirks. "Baliw na baliw sa akin."

She laughs as tears continue to stream down her cheek.

She hits his chest.

"Ayan ka nanaman eh!"

"Bakit? Ano bang ginawa ko?"

"Binibiro mo nanaman ako."

"Hindi ako nagbibiro. Baliw na baliw ka sakin. Tignan mo sarili mo nakangiti ka kahit na puno ng luha ang mukha mo."

She sniffs.

"Aminin mo nga. Ganyan ba talaga ako ka gwapo na hindi mo mapigilang gumiti kahit na naiiyak ka na?"
