Chapter 5 ~ Tough Love

"Digong..."

As soon as Leni got out of the room, she saw her handkerchief and a note written above it. She knew immediately that it was him.

She slowly picked it up and read the short message.

Bongbong looked curiously over her shoulder to see what she was holding.

"Nandito na uli siya!"

"Sino?" Bongbong asked.

She smiled cheerfully at him.

"Si Digong! Kailangan ko siyang makita."

With her heart thundering with glee Leni walked briskly along the halls, as she looked for any sign of his presence.

Bongbong sighed.

"Paano ba 'yan...I wanted to invite her for a dinner sana..." he whispered as he watched her form slowly disappearing into the halls. "Maybe next time."

She didn't know where or how she would find him, but she needed to find him.

Digong...nasaan ka ba?

For the first few moments she felt happy and excited to look for him, but as the time stretched further and yet she still could not find him, Leni found herself losing hope that she would ever find him.

She slump against a wall, feeling an empty pit in her stomach. She looked at the handkerchief and frowned.

"Boss diba si Leni yun?"

The gang was staying inside one of the vacant rooms on the seventh floor. Bong, Digong's second in command, looked out of the window.

Digong walked near the window and looked out. He saw Leni and felt a strange mix of emotions inside his chest.

"Diba gusto mo siyang maka-usap?" Bong said.

Digong gripped the window sill. He watched Leni as she walked towards the school gates. She looked behind her one last time before she continued walking out of the campus.

"Sa susunod nalang siguro. Uuwi na 'yata siya. Ayokong maabala pa siya."

"Diba boss siya 'yung bagong girlfriend ni Bongbong?"

He looks at Martin with a confused look on his face. He had been out for three week and he had yet to know about the things that are happening.

"Ha? Sila na?" 

"May narinig kasi akong mga usap usapan." Martin tells Digong. Martin was the most sociable among the members and he knew a lot of rumors - whether it was true or not. "Hindi ako sure kung sila na ba talaga, pero ang alam ko, for sure, naghiwalay na si Louise at Bongbong."

Digong remembers the scene that he witnessed from a while back. Everything seemed to lock itself in place.

"Ah...kaya pala..." he whispered quietly.

He felt his stomach dropping. He frowned slightly as he tried to hide his disappointment.

Sigurado akong bumalik na siya...pero nasaan ba siya?

Leni was staring blankly into space. Her elbow on top of the table while her hand cupped her face. She was certainly sure that Digong was at the campus yesterday, although she did not see him. She told herself she was going to find him today for sure.

"Excuse me...is Leni Robredo here?" a woman called out from the entrance of the room.

Leni had taken no notice of the person talking since she was too distracted with her thoughts.
