Chapter 19

Rue hugs Erendole's neck and hangs a little. He laughs and twirls around. Dante looks at Nero and smirks. "That's what you looked like a while ago. You have to admit, she looks like a kid!"

Nero smiles and folds his arms. "Yeah, but she's carefree like that."

Lady bumps her shoulder against Ella's. In response she raises her eyebrows. "Are we not going to discuss what the heck is going on?" Lady asked.

"That's right!" Ella thumps her fist on her other open palmed hand. She walks over and grabs Rue away from Erendole the bird demon. Stopping their fun and it was funny, because Rue got teary eyed a little to be away from the demon. "Rue," Ella places Rue on the couch "Please tell us what you saw."

Rue takes a deep breath and points at bird demon. "This is Erendole, my Uncle. Also what Kyrie was talking about awhile ago is true. I am the Demon Princess."

Everyone gasps. Ella sits next to Rue. "So it's true. Then what about the human family that took care of you?"

"Those idiots?" Erendole goes over to the kitchen area. "They were contracted to Mundus to watch over her. To make sure that her powers didn't come back." He screeches at the sight in the fridge. "RUE PLEASE TELL ME YOU"RE EATING HEALTHY AND NOT THIS PIZZA CRAP!"

"Eh?" Rue scratches her head in thought. "Well sometimes."

"Get to the point!" Nero and Lady said in unison.

Erendole trudges over to Rue and plops himself down in front of her. "They were the eyes and ears for Mundus. Whatever fabricated lifestyle you thought you had with them was a lie. I'm sorry my girl, but I had to stop it before you got too attached."

Tears slowly drop from her eyes, but she was shedding bloody tears. "But I did get attached..."

"I'm sorry my dear," Erendole wipes away her tears. "I did what I had to do."

"Rue." Nero calls out to her, catching everyone's eyes. He blushes when he notices, but takes a step towards her. "Would you like a break from 'this' situation?"

Rue looks over to Ella and then Erendole. "Please? Just for a day I would like to understand what's going to happen from now on. Erendole nods his head along with Ella.

Nero offers his demon hand to her. Rue smiles and accepts by lacing her fingers with his. They walk out of the shop and walk in silence. Nero leading the way as Rue leans her body against his side. "Thank you."

He smiles down at her. "No problem."

"Ship to Fortuna! Last call!" A ferry man yells out and rings a bell. Nero stopped in his tracks. He didn't put much thought on the destination of where they were waling. Rue had her eyes closed for the whole time, trusting Nero to lead wherever. She did opened her eyes though after hearing the ferry man's call.

"Sorry, I guess we both were lost in our minds." Nero points behind them. "Want to go back?"

"No." Rue responded right away. She points at the ferry. "Want to go?"

Nero looks at the ferry and then back at her. "Fortuna is my past, something that I don't plan to see or live through again."

"If it helps," Rue hugs his midsection while looking up at him. "I can help you through your past and you can help me through mine." She leans up and pecks his lips. "That's what normal couples do right? Help the other out?"

Nero caresses Rue's soft blue hair as he smirks. "We're not really normal are we?"

"I guess not..." She looks down and then is forced to look up by Nero's hand. He leans in and kisses her. Rue accepts and gives in by closing her eyes and wraps her arms around his neck.

They slowly move away from the kiss to smile at each other. "I like us being boyfriend and girlfriend." Rue jumps and Nero responds to hold her bridal style to catch her.

"I do to. So I guess we will help each other out with our pasts." He starts walking towards the ferry. "Want to start with mine?"

"Sure!" Rue smiles cheekily. "Will we get to kill demons."

"Hmm." Nero fakes a thinking face and then smirks. "Hell yeah we will."
