In a flash, guns were blazing and surfaces were turfed.

Using our surroundings, it made our battle much more complex. So not to trip over each other's ink, we used an ability only Inklings had, and that was to change colour. We chose Rodger's colour - bright orange - for a larger contrast.

We did what we did best: Turf War teamwork. By turfing more area as we fought, it gave less space for the Octolings to act. So that was our plan.

A shot from Rodger, and an Octoling was out. I felt the taste of guilt, but I knew we had no other choice.

"Keep 'em firing!" Leuis cheered from in the vents. He couldn't fight either, but he could still give moral support. And the good thing was that my friends could understand him.

"You want me to eat what?!" Eryk hollered.

Sort of.

I wasn't an expert sniper like Rodger, but I still had good aim. I managed to shoot the other Octolings, taking out one. My friends still had my back, and I had theirs.

The sky was beginning to light up with bright rosy colours as the sun was rising. The battle had gone on for a while, yet the Octolings showed no signs of weariness.

An unexpected kick landed into my stomach and I was sent back. Porphyra had attacked without me noticing to get me off guard and aimed her gun.

"Not giving up yet, thief?" She muttered.

"You know now for sure that I'm not her!" I retorted with a growl escaping my throat. "At least call me by my name!"

I shot at her, and she dodged that easily. "It's a name my commander despises. She never wants to hear of it again." Porphyra came running at me with readied fists. She had a gun, but strangely, she wasn't using it.

I shot again and missed. Porphyra kicked the bamboozler out of my hands and sent it behind me. I was only left to my martial arts skills. "That's not true either! What was that back there in that hideout before, huh?"

I deflected and blocked the incoming punches and elbows. I found that I was better off like this than shooting.

"You know that Octarians and Inklings are born enemies. The Commander Akashi-yaki you saw back there isn't the real her."

"Lies!"

We fought on with our own fists. It was odd why she wanted to fight this way. I was sure she wanted to kill me as well.

As the battle commenced, the earth shook as large mech armours stomped below. It was C.A.S., two of them, actually, towering over. The Octarians must have brought in more. Down below, my cousins fired their inking weapons at whatever they thought were weak spots. No matter how many of my cousins were there, I was sure that Octoling Nakji had improved it so much that it was impossible to destroy.

"Those mechs look like they can really pack a punch." John voiced over.

"True." Mack nervously laughed. "That technology makes ours look like it was made in the stone age."

"I wonder what can really take them down..."

A charger's blast sounded, followed by constant beeps, that were almost a bit too quiet to hear.

"RODGER!"

"SHOOT." Rodger cursed.

Curious, both Porphyra and I turned around.

The cargo of explosives was set and ready to detonate, caused by Rodger's careless aim. The Octolings were already retreating, rushing back to where they arrived.

"Do not panic yet!" Eryk yelled, grabbing the rolling crate. "Get the window!"

Rodger threw a bomb at one of the window, causing it to shatter completely. Eryk forcefully pushed the cart out of the opening, letting the explosive threat fall below.

The dam facility shook once more as the bombs detonated violently. Luckily, it didn't destroy the facility wall, but it did destroy something else...

"Look out!" Leuis warned as he pointed at the mechs, which were now falling at our direction.

The robotic body, as I predicted, were sturdy enough to break through concrete. They fell onto the facility wall, and into the hallway.

I swore, I could hear Nakji shriek with anguish. "MY CREATIONS! MY BEAUTIFUL CREATIONS!"

I was then pulled back and away from the demolition scene, as I was too much in shock to move or react.

And I watched as my friends disappeared into the rubble.
