sorry i havent updated, i was watching the wonderful show of glee

"You're gonna be careful, right?" Alexander said, chewing on his lip, worriedly. John chuckled, brushing a strand of Alex's hair out of his face. The two were standing outside their apartment building, waiting for the taxi that was going to take John to the airport.

"I will, Lex, I promise." John wrapped his arms around Alex's torso, squeezing him tightly. "Stop worrying about me, I'll be back in a week. Email me any assignments?"

Alexanders nodded into John's shoulder. "I'm gonna be so lonely all week, Laf and Herc have each other, I have you." John felt himself blushing at Alex's kind words.

John grabbed one of Alexander's hands and smiled brightly. "I'll pick you up a postcard from my hometown. It's gonna say "Welcome to South Carolina: Homophobia Galore!" He gave a good-natured laugh and pressed his forehead against Alexander's. "I really wish you could come. Moral support."

"Your sister loved you and you loved her, she'll be with you forever," Alexander said, putting his hand against John's chest. He could feel his heart, beating rapidly against Alex's palm. John looked down at Alex's hand then looked up at Alex, blinking a few times.

"Am I allowed to kiss you?" He asked, softly, pulling Alex a little closer to him. Their noses were only a few centimeters apart.

"Do you have to ask?"

So before either of them realized, they were kissing. Soft-lipped, open-mouthed, desperation filled their kiss. Alexander and John had needed it more than they knew.

The taxi pulled up behind them and John broke apart to look at it, then at his luggage, then at Alex. "I have to go," He whispered, putting his hand on Alex's cheek. "I'm sorry." He unraveled himself from Alex's arms and grabbed his suitcase handle with one hand and the door to the taxi with the other. Then he felt Alex's fingers, wrapping around his wrist, pulling him back.

"Wait," Alex said. "I...I love you."

*five days later*

Alexander blinked a few times, the blue light from his computer burning his pupils. Closing them for a second, he leaned back in his chair and sighed.

I should probably go to sleep, he told himself, before continuing to type.

He heard soft footsteps padding behind him and turned to see Lafayette, wrapped in a small quilt with Herc's sweatshirt on. It was big on him, giving him sweater paws, which only added to the cuteness. "Alexander? Mon ami, do you know what time it is?" He yawned, crossing over to the table that Alex sat at.

"I'm...I'm almost done."

"It's 3am, mon petit," he said. "You need your sleep."

Alexander sighed once more, placing his head in his hands. Lafayette went to the kitchen to pour himself some water.

"You miss John?" Lafayette asked, handing Alex a cup. Alexander drank it all in three seconds (a/n: because he's a thirsty bitch 😏). "He's coming back soon."

"I know," Alexander said, putting the cup on the side. He looked out the window, before turning his attention back to his friend. "I just...it's not the same without him Laf. I need him, especially right now."

"What's so important?" Laf asked. "Alexander, I know I...we, have not been the best friends to you two. Me and Herc have a lot of feelings for each other, special ones, but I will always be here for you, as a friend. You can talk to me, as well, mon ami."

Alexander gave him a soft smile, closing his laptop. "I know Laf, I understand. But, it's just, I told John I loved him before he left. And he didn't say anything back, he only kissed me then got into the taxi. What does that mean? Does he not love me, or was he just in a rush? And he hasn't texted me in awhile, I'm starting to get worried..."

Lafayette stared at Alexander for a few seconds, before his lips broke out into a wide grin. "I always knew you loved him!"

Alex laughed quietly.

"You have no reason to be worried, Alex, John maybe is busy and cannot answer the phone. And when he comes back, you will sort out your feelings for one another, it will all work out." Lafayette got up from the table. He placed a kiss on top of Alex's head. "Goodnight Alexander, go to sleep soon."

"Laf?"

"Yes?"

"You're a good friend. Who knew a baguette could be so smart."

Alexander checked his watch; 4:30. Since he had class at 7:30, he decided to just go to sleep and finish the final two paragraphs during lunch. He walked into his bedroom and turned on an alarm when his phone began to buzz and screech the ringtone he'd set for John (Stupid Hoe by Nicki Minaj). It, as one can assume, scared the living shit out of him and he dropped the phone on his foot.

Trying not scream in pain, balancing on one foot whilst trying to pick up a phone screaming "You a stupid hoe" at you at 4am with sleeping roomates is a situation only Alexander Hamilton can get into. Cursing, he answered the phone, hoping that hearing John's voice would make it better,

"John?" He said.

"Alex," John's voice was panicky and scared. "Oh thank god, Alexander I need help. I'm so sorry, I...my dad lied. He got drunk and he beat me and...and..." John's voice cracked and he started sobbing into the phone. "I can't take this Alex, I can't be here, this place ruins people. It crushes their dreams, I escaped once, I can't be back here. In South Carolina, being different is a crime and they punish people for who they are, I miss you, I miss New York. I don't want to be beaten, I want to be in your arms!"

"Oh, John..." Alexander said, wishing he wasn't miles away. He wanted to take John into his arms and tell him it was okay. "Where are you? I'll catch a flight as soon as possible, alright?"

"You will?" John asked, his voice small and defeated, but there was a hint of happiness in it. Happiness and gratitude. He was thankful to have Alexander, someone who cared so deeply for him. "Thank you so much, Alex, you don't know what this means, I--"

"Where are you, John?" Alex asks, trying to control the situation.

"I'm staying at my old friend's house. I'll text you the address, please come soon!"

"I will... be careful, John. Stay strong for me, okay?"

"Okay."

Alex sprung into action, throwing a few t-shirts into a small suitcase while on the phone with JFK, booking a cheap flight to South Carolina. He had one thing on his mind: John Laurens. He was going to help him no matter what.

Because, he learned something these past few months, you do anything for someone you love.
