Chapter 40:
Jessica's POV:
After a painfully long interview, Lauren and I were finally leaving. Eliza decided not to tag along and said she would wait back at the apartment.
We walked next to each other through the busy hallways on our way to the front door, where our driver was waiting. Employees of the office darted out of our way whenever we passed, giving me this feeling like I was some sort of royalty.
Let's be honest. I am.
"Thank you, Ms. Bieber. We hope to see you again soon," the blonde lady behind the front desk smiled once we reached her.
"Thank you for having me," I replied politely. We shared smiles again, and I decided I liked her.
I turned towards the front door, when Lauren pulled on my arm, signally it was time to leave. The doorman smiled politely and fisted the metal knob in his hand. I would definitely be coming back here. Everyone's so polite.
He tipped his head goodbye to us before swinging the door open. Lauren gasped in shock while I stood gaping at the revealed sea of reporters in front of me. "Where did they come from?" Lauren cursed.
It was very loud. Questions were being shot at me from every direction. Flashes blinded me because there were so many. "Why are there so many?" I asked myself.
"Because you're famous, you idiot," Lauren spat out before pulling me inside.
She walked back towards the lovely blonde while I stayed, peering through the small crack left in the door. I still doubted my fame. I doubt that many people like my singing or my personality. I didn't expect this.
"Come on," Lauren grabbed onto my arm again but this time surprising me. Two extremely large men showed up and apologized for the wait. "Just stick close to us, and you'll be perfectly fine," the tanner one smiled at me.
I will definitely be sticking close to you. You're cute.
He started laughing loudly, making me realize I said that out loud. The other man laughed too, while Lauren only shot me a disapproving look. "Sorry," I apologized weakly.
"No, it's okay. Thanks anyways. You're cute too," he replied. I blushed not from the compliment, but also from the embarrassment and awkwardness of the situation. It's not like I like him anyways. Now Louis, on the other hand, is beyond cute and my crush.
Lauren and her escort left first, diving into the sea of paparazzi. We waited a few minutes until my guy's walkie-talkie-thing buzzed. "Okay, we're in the car. Be careful though. They're pretty brutal today," Lauren's escort announced through the machine.
My guy gave me a look and said, "Let's do this."
The door opened, and I was blinded instantly once again. My escort wrapped his huge, insanely muscled arms around me protectively before pushing us into the crowd. I panicked at the small space and wished I had another guy, or at least a path cleared for me.
Everyone was screaming and shoving cameras and microphones into my face. I politely smiled when in reality I wanted to pinch everyone's nipples so they could feel intense pain.
"Please move away. I would like to get Ms. Bieber to her car safely," my escort shouted, but it was no use because his voice was easily lost in the shouts of others. We slowly and painfully pushed our way through the crowd, while I ignored all but one of the obscene questions being asked.
"What kind of sex do you prefer?"
I actually lifted my head up from being tucked against the man's chest and laughed at that one. A nearby lady shoved a microphone into my face, so I assumed she was the one who asked it. "The only way I can have sex is if I squirt oranges all over my body," I replied into the microphone cheekily and winked.
