Chapter 7:

Jessica's POV:

"Hello?" I asked after I pressed answer.

On the other side of the line I heard banging and laughing. "Oh, hey Jessica," Selena's voice exaggerated sweetly through the phone.

"Hi... What's going on?" I asked her.

"Justin and I have big news! And I wanted to tell you first, so I locked myself in the bathroom!" I could hear her giggling as the pounding continued.

"Let me in!" Justin's distant voice whined.

"In a minute! I'm going to tell Jessica," Selena teased.

"But I want to!" he cried out, and I laughed. He has issues no matter how much of a heart-throb he is.

"Is it good or bad?" I asked and leaned against the side of my porch.

"Good, actually great!" Selena cheered.

"Well then tell me," I insisted, growing impatient.

"Want to hear the biggest new in the music industry right now?" she questioned me. I always have to find out my industry gossip from her since I am not yet experiencing it first hand.

"Hit me!"

"Maroon 5 and Beyonce are fighting over your song 'One More Night,'" she declared. I gasped and screamed.

The day before I met the boys and lost my job, I put my new song "One More Night" on the market. Whoever bid the most received rights and, apparently, it is those two fighting over it. Most of the big stars know about me, the anonymous songwriter. Through the business my existence is slowly becoming more and more known to the fans as that.

"Shut up," I yelled.

"No, I'm dead serious," she assured me. "How much do you want to bet Beyonce gets it?"

"Nope, Maroon 5 would sound much better," I giggled. I heard my front door open behind me, and I spun to face Louis.

He stared at me with wide eyes and glanced around.
"Are you okay? I heard screaming!" he explained in a worried tone that made me chuckle.

"Well, that's all I wanted to say! See you in two weeks!" Selena told me with Justin threatening her in the background. She giggled and hung up. I shook my head and returned my phone into my waistband.

"Yes, I'm fine. Just excited that some family members are coming to visit in a couple of weeks," I answered.

He relaxed and bit his lip. "I thought you were in trouble for some reason."

"And what would you have done if I was? No weapon! No combat skills!" I crossed my arms.

He scoffed. "I would've had to bring out the old Superman," he wiggled his eyebrows at me, making me laugh.

He opened and held the door for me as we made our way back inside. Louis followed me into the empty living room. Empty. Crap, where are the boys? Oh please, do not be in my music room!

"Guys?" I called out. No answer. I spun to face Louis and crossed my arms accusingly.

"When I left to check on you they were here!" He raised his hands in defense. I huffed and stomped down the hallway. I checked the bathroom, guest bedroom, my bedroom, and the game room. No dice. I checked my music room door to ensure it was still locked and sighed in relief when it didn't budge.

I left the music room door closed and walked back into the living room. Once there I heard a loud shout coming from the kitchen. I grabbed Louis' arm and pulled him after me. We burst into the room to find Liam sitting and covered in flour, Niall eating some cookies, and Harry trying to steal his- my cookies. But wait, one boy is missing. I heard a groan and noticed Zayn in a fetal position underneath Liam. Poor thing. He better be alright for when I kick their asses later.
