Percy's POV
"Grandma!" Penny screeched when we arrived at my mom's apartment. I laugh. Annabeth mumbled something about having a headache after today. Oh how Penny loves to yell.
I park and unlock the doors and open the backdoor and get out the bags. Annabeth gets the kids out and puts them in the stroller I just gave her. She heads inside the building. I gather as many bags as I can. But I then drop two of them and say some colorful words.
"I'm pretend I never heard any of that." Someone says from behind me. I turn around see Paul standing there.
"Annabeth send you?" I ask already knowing the answer. He nods and comes over and helps me.
With his help I get all of the bags. Man why did we bring so many bags. We aren't even staying for the day. We take them up to the apartment. We walk in and I see Annabeth talking with my mom and Penny and Ashton playing with a baby doll. I set the bags down and go over and hug my mother.
"Hi Mom." I tell her.
"Hello Percy." She says back. "Regan will be here soon." I nod and sit down next to Annabeth.
We make small talk until we hear the doorbell ring. Paul goes and gets it. I hear voices and feet running. Ginger and Jasper run into the room and attack me.
"Uncle Percy!" They scream with joy and jump on me.
"Okay. Lets get off of Uncle Percy so he can breathe." I hear Regan speak. They get of me and I stand up. Everybody is laughing at me.
"What?" I ask.
"The all mighty Percy Jackson can kill multiple monsters at a time but is held down by a six and three year old." Annabeth says shaking her head. I stick my tongue out at her playfully.
"I could've gotten out if I felt like it." I mumble. They all laugh. Penny walks over to Regan and asks her some questions.
Regan looks up at me gives me a funny look. Annabeth notices also.
"What?" I ask.
"Penny asked me what does a headstone look like and I asked her how does she know what that is. She said it was in a book Mommy read me." Regan says.
"I read them the Christmas Carol Christmas Eve." Annabeth explains. I nod for Regan to go on.
"She then told me that there is one in her backyard." She looks in our eyes for us to explain. Annabeth sucks in her breath. I wrap my arm around her and hold her tight.
"Percy, what is going on?" My mother asks. Annabeth starts crying some. Penny rushes over and climbs up next to her and hugs. Ashton soon follows and Annabeth holds them both.
I look at Annabeth and she nods. I take a deep breath and tell my them everything.
_____
After we told everybody Paul and Logan have to take the children out of the room. My mother, Annabeth, and Regan are crying. I want to leave the room with Paul and Logan, but I know I should stay with Annabeth. My mom was upset at us when we first told her. But then she heard Annabeth's reason for not telling, and she realized what it would feel like. Paul quickly walks in with a box of tissues and walks out as fast as he did before. I don't blame him. Your in a room with three women who've all had children. Who knows how that can end.
"How small was he?" Mom asks.
"He could fit into my hands." I tell her. She cry's harder.
"Did they tell you why Carter died." Regan asks softly.
Annabeth shakes her head. "They said it was an undetermined death." She sniffles and I hand her a tissue.
Paul comes back in the room with a sleeping Penny and Logan comes in with a whiny Ashton.
"I think it's time for us to go." I say. We hug everybody and then we pack up and leave.
_____
We just got home and after we put the twins down for a nap, Annabeth goes and lays down upstairs. I follow her.
"Percy I don't know if I can handle seeing other people today. Like what if Penny asks the same thing again. I can't handle explaining it again." Annabeth says and hugs me and starts crying.
"I know it hurts. But it will get better." I tell her.
"I love you Percy." Annabeth says and kisses me. We stay like that for a bit. I pull away. I rest my forehead against hers.
"Annabeth." I speak. She looks up. "I have a gift for you. I think it's something that you'll open without anyone seeing." I get up off the bed and walk away and go into the closet.
I think she is thinking the wrong thing because the next I hear is her yelling at me.
"Perseus Jackson! If it is what I think it is then I swear you'll never live this down!" She yells at me.
I start laughing. I walk to her with a gift bag. "Here, open it. I know you will love it." I kiss her cheek and sit next to her on the edge of the bed. She gives me a wary look before opening the gift.
She takes out the tissue paper and takes out an ornament box. She opens it and takes the ornament out. She holds it in her hands like it would disappear any minute. She doesn't want to drop it. It's so fragile.
"Percy." He voice cracks. She's on the verge of tears, I can tell. "It's beautiful. Let's go hang it on the tree." I kiss her and we walk out of the room and downstairs to the living room.
I take some gold ribbon from the decoration box on the floor and tie it into the loop on the ornament. Annabeth then hangs it up on the tree near by the ornaments with Penny's and Ashton's name on them. We step back and look at it.
It's a gold ball ornament with sea-green writing on it. It says; Carter Perseus Chase Jackson and below that is the words 'We'll always remember you'.
I wrap my arms around her waist and whisper in her ear. "Do you want go eat some blue candy while the twins nap?" I ask.
She laughs and nods her head.
I love her so much.
