It was an hour before the start of the party and we were getting all the final things sorted. All of the family was already here. Carolines POV "Sadie are y'all ready we need to get going the party will be started" I shouted "I'm coming girl god keep your hat on. Where is this party anyway" "Ok promise you won't freak out when I tell you where we are going" I said "Promise, not spill" "Well back in college I dated a guy and we spilt up 5 years ago, but I still kept in contact with his family. Well it's his mamas 60th birthday tonight" I was hesitating "Carol come on spit it out, it's not like you dated Luke Bryan" she said I looked at her and said "No fucking way" "Yip, it's his mamas birthday tonight and we are going" She looked like she was gonna pass out "Sadie say something" "How long have we been friends and you are telling me now. Why on earth did you not tell me" she asked "I'm sorry Sadie it was a bad break up I caught him kissing someone else in college and we broke up. I ain't spoke to him since then" I said "Kissing is that it, was he drunk" she asked "Yes, but that's not the point." I replied "Well did you at least give him the chance to explain" she said "Well not exactly I told him I didn't want to listen to his excuses. Anyway that was 5 years ago, let's just go to this party ok" I said hurt "Caroline ....... you should have let him speak" I knew she was right but I am so dang stubborn that I let it go this far. He sent me flowers everyday for a whole year and I didn't even have the guts to call him. Now look at him a hot country star who probably won't even remember who I am.
Luke's POV I was beyond nervous, she was on her way. She text mama and told her she was on her way and was sorry for being late. Yip that's Caroline always late I chucked to myself. I decided to mingle with the crowd and not make it obvious that I was waiting for her. I decided I would approach her if she didn't feel as if I was waiting on her. Michael said he would Look out for her coming give me a chance to act normal. "Buddy she is coming" he said "Thank you" I replied and I headed over to talk to Mama.
Carolines POV "We are here" I said to Sadie "Whoa I pass this place every day I have no idea it was Luke Bryan's Mamas." She said "Don't be going all fan girl on my now, I need your support" I got out my truck and headed to the front door. I knocked and Luke's friend Micheal answered, I ain't seen him since college. "Oh Hi Caroline, your looking good" he said "Hey Carter, thank you. This is my best friend Sadie" I said turning to her, "Nice to meet you" he said winking at her. Yip that's Michael for you. "Hey, you too" said Sadie all doe eyed. "Mama is through the back, I will take you through". He led us through the house. Sadie was in awe but not with the house with Michael. I give it to the end of the night and they will be very well acquainted. I looked up and there he was, chatting with his nieces and Mama. My stomach was doing cartwheels. I got up to them and Mama said "Caroline honey so nice to see you again" "Happy Birthday LeClaire" I said giving her a hug, "Hey less of the LeClaire it's mama" she said hugging me back. He just stood there staring until his mama nudged him "Cat got your tongue boy" I laughed still telling him off. He flashed the best smile, boy did I miss those pearly whites "Hey Luke, how have you been" "Hey BAb.... I'm sorry Caroline, if I said I was ok I would be lying" and with that he engulfed me in the tightest hug, ""I've missed you Caroline" he said I broke away from the hug and said "I can't do this just now" I said running up stairs. Everyone was looking at me. Sadie followed me up and said "Caroline y'all need to talk. I will tell him to come up ok" "No Sadie it's ok. Tell him to meet me at our spot" She looked at me as if I was crazy, "Ok then,I will tell him" She went off and I headed out the front door to our special spot below the Magnolia tree. She was right we needed to talk.
