"Hello Lily."

I didn't want to turn around, because I already knew who it was. So I decided to talk. "What is this..."

"Why did you find this place?" Jess asked. No, she didn't ask how, she asked why.

I finally turned, making sure my sword was ready to grab when I needed it. "It was an accident."

"So was that." She nodded to the head. "Somewhat."

I shook my own. "I really don't think it was..."

"I'm not who you think I am." She took a step forward.

I immediately stepped back. "What? You aren't a cold blooded killer? Then explain the head, Jessica. At a distance."

She looked at me, then the head, then back at me. Finally, she closed her eyes. "It was ten years ago. My husband and I-"

"I knew it!" I whispered. "I knew there was someone else in this house before."

She nodded. "We were married for six years, ever since I was twenty-one. He was the stubborn type of man that didn't back down to anyone... including me. We fought often, even though we loved each other with all of our hearts. Then one day, he got into this fight with another man. The man had a bad reputation, and was targeting my husband. He came into this house one night, and slayed my husband in the kitchen. I quickly managed to take him down afterward, avenging my husband's death."

I didn't know how to react to the story. "Who's the..."

"That is my husband there." She replied.

A look of horror washed over my face. That was her husband?! "Why would you do that?!"

"I was so lonely..." She murmured. "He was taken away from me... I had to do something..."

"You killed a man and put another's head in your house?! There should be no excuse for that!"

"Please do not think of me as a monster." She pleaded. "I did what I had to do in self defense. Anyone else would have done the same. It was either me or him. And I had to dump the bodies. No one knows what happened except you and I. I trust you, Lily. Please, please don't leave me too."

I wanted to run out of there. However, she was blocking the way. So I just stared at her with a pained expression.

"That will never happen again." Jess assured me. "I promise. It can just be you and me. Together forever! You can be like the daughter I never got to have."

Daughter? This woman was insane!

"Please Lily. I need you."

I took another step back. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This sweet, innocent woman was a killer. But she did do it in self defense... But she also kept the head of her husband because she was lonely. She had more issues than I thought. I didn't know what to do. What would she say if I wanted to leave? Where would I go?

"Nobody knows this." She admitted. "So it's just between you and me. No one else can know." She may not have meant it that way, but that last part made me think she was threatening me.

I nodded without thinking.

She brightened up, grinning wildly. "Oh, thank you for giving me another chance!" She was about to hug me, but remembered I was still in shock.
