Chapter 5: That Fateful Encounter

Chapter 5

       “Why now?” Levi grunted as he dressed Eren. “Who’s here Levi-senpai?” Eren asked. “Get Mikasa and hide” Levi commanded. It was obvious he was beyond annoyed, but Eren did not have a choice. If anyone discovered where Eren and Mikasa were living they would be forced to move out. Eren panicked at the thought and searched for Mikasa. But the thought of “He” could not leave Eren’s mind. “Who is he?” Eren thought.

       “Levi! Did you make sure that Eren and Mikasa are upstairs in hiding?” Mother Reiss frantically asked. “This isn’t the holocaust mother” Levi sarcastically said to calm her down. “But those poor kids!” Mother Reiss continued. Levi opened the door halfway, “Why are you here Erwin?” Levi frowned. “Did I interrupt something? You seem quite agitated Levi-kun.” Erwin joked. “Go away” Levi exasperated. Erwin pushed the door wide open, “It’s not kind to refuse a guest who has taken the time to visit, Levi-kun.” Erwin stated.

       Mother Reiss was sitting in the living room sweating in frenzy. “Hello Mother Reiss it is a pleasure to see you again.” “Oh! Why is it Erwin? You’ve grown since the last time we’ve encountered each other!” She was obviously panicking, much to Levi’s disturbance. Erwin was a very sharp man and could detect Levi’s strange behavior. Levi was sure he was on to something and wanted him out of the house.

“Levi-kun, can we talk in your room?” Erwin requested. “Ahhhhh—“ Mother Reiss squealed. “Is there something wrong?” Erwin asked. “That would be utterly embarrassing! I have yet to clean it! Levi’s underwear is scattered—”She was interrupted. “Follow me” Levi calmly stated. The two went up to his room while Mother Reiss was passed out on the coach.

The two entered Levi’s room. “I don’t understand why your mother was so frantic, your room is always tidy” Erwin said. “Ignore her comments and have a seat.” Levi pointed to his miniature couch. As they took a seat, Levi scanned the room with his eyes in an attempt to find Eren.

“What the hell” Levi gulped. Eren was under Levi’s bed and as he looked up he discovered Mikasa on the ceiling. “What?” Erwin said confused. “Your outfit, it’s atrocious.” Levi recovered. “It’s our uniform…” Erwin said, confused.

“You sure love your black and grays” Erwin commented. “When are you going to tell me why you came here?” Levi demanded, changing the conversation. “I was curious” “About what?” “You seem to have your eyes on that freshman” This was embarrassing for Levi. Both Mikasa and Eren were in his room listening to their conversation. “If that’s all you may leave immediately” Levi said nonchalantly. Eren’s eyes were wide open to their conversation as he watched under the covers.

“Someone of your reputation shouldn’t be concerned with the likes of him.” Eren picked up Erwin’s comment as an insult. “Do you think I care about my own reputation?” Levi challenged. “No you don’t, and that’s the issue” Erwin answered, “You can’t control your own emotions. If that young boy continues his attachment with you he’ll get hurt. I don’t want to see his sweet innocence trampled by such a bitter man.” Eren was shocked. He was confused by Erwin’s relationship with Levi. “Was Erwin the one who left Levi-senpai because of his bitterness?” Eren thought.

“Is that all?” Levi asked. “Levi-kun you need to be more considerate of other people’s feelings!” Erwin demanded. “How ironic of you to say that to me.” There was a long pause. “You still love me don’t you?” Erwin asked in a manner that seemed as if he already knew the answer. Levi placed his hand over his forehead. “Unfortunately I do” Levi murmured. “I’m sorry, I’ll be escorting myself out” Erwin said. Eren wished he had heard Levi’s words differently. There was no doubt about who Erwin was to Levi.

  “That young man is very sweet, don’t turn him into a bitter man like you Levi-kun” Erwin warned. Levi was extremely agitated by that comment of Erwin’s.

Mikasa flew down from the ceiling, “What is the meaning of this?!” “Go back to your room; this is a man’s environment.” Levi stated. “Are you planning on using Eren’s feelings for your own benefit?!” She raged. “Mikasa, let me speak to him alone.” Eren demanded. She did as Eren said and left the room, “Senpai, I will never forgive you if you hurt Eren” Mikasa threatened.

“Levi-senpai, you don’t have to explain anything to me, I trust you with all my heart.” Eren smiled. Levi walked to Eren’s side. “You are too sweet,” Levi placed his hand on Eren’s face. “now please stop crying, Eren.” “Senpai… don’t leave me too” Eren cried. Levi wiped his tears and comforted Eren. “I’m here” Levi said.

And slowly as time passed he began to remember…
