Chapter 15: That Fateful Regret

“Is there really a path of no regrets?” Eren smiled as he lay on Levi’s new bed inside his apartment. “It has another name.” Levi commented as he went into the shower. “What?!” Eren said in excitement. “Love.” Levi responded. Eren could not have been happier at that moment. Mother Reiss approved of their relationship and promised to convince Father Reiss. He did not think anything could separate him from Levi at this point.

Eren and Levi were living together for several weeks which brought up the question of why Levi stayed out late. “Hey Levi-senpai, you seem to be going out a lot at night these days.” Eren commented. “I’m sorry, please bear with it” Levi yawned as he fell asleep. “Could that midget be cheating on me? Ugh, I’m starting to sound just like him.” Eren sighed.

The next night Levi went out, Eren followed him along with Mikasa. “Eren I think you’re overreacting, there’s no way Levi-senpai would cheat on you.” Mikasa said in her usual monotone manner. “But don’t you think it’s weird that he won’t tell me where he is at night?” Eren argued. “It is” Mikasa replied. “After I bought him that broom he liked so much tsk…” Eren whined.

The two were following Levi’s odd route through the inner walls. Mikasa stopped by a store and stared intensely at a beautiful red scarf. “Mikasa you already have one, let’s hurry before we lose him!” Eren complained.

“Levi-senpai is with Erwin-senpai!?” Eren announced as he hid behind a building. “He’s undressing Levi-senpai!” Eren cried. “Eren, look.” Mikasa responded. “NO I CAN’T!” He ran off. “Too bad for him this is hilarious.” Mikasa lightly chuckled.

“What is life?” Eren pondered as he chugged a glass of milk at a nearby bar. “That’s a good question.” A sexy blonde haired bartender answered. “Annie Leonhardt?” Eren jumped, she was one of the top 5 students in his class and she was here at a bar. “Annie what are you doing here?” Eren asked. “I work here” “Is that even legal?” He thought. “What about you? You seemed quite stressed.” She remarked. “I think I’m regretting my choices. Maybe I should’ve gone along with society.” Eren suggested, hitting his head repeatedly on the table.

“If someone told you to die would you do it?” Annie coldly asked. “Of course not!” Eren raged. “Then why not make your own decisions?” She persisted. “I guess… that is true. You must hate conformity huh, Annie?” Eren shrugged. “I just want the weak, who do get swept along with the flow, to be considered human too.” She answered. “I don’t think you’re weak. I think you helped me reach my answer. I’m going to be more confident and resist the flow! Thank you Annie!” Eren cheerful said as he left the bar. “Idiot…” She whispered.

“Jean?” Mikasa said. “I saw you looking at this scarf so I got it for you.” Jean blushed. “No thank you, I already have this scarf from Eren.” “Oh, I’m sorry I just thought you might have wanted a new scarf since you’re always wearing that one.” Jean shyly responded. “Something new…” Mikasa whispered. “I’ve just never seen anyone like you… you’re hair is really beautiful!” Jean continued. “I’ll take it, thank you Jean.” Mikasa accepted. “Seriously?” Jean panicked.

“Levi-senpai?!” Eren yelled as he went to search for him. He noticed some Shingeki Academy seniors laughing uncontrollably at the same area he saw Levi and Erwin. “What’s so funny?” Eren asked. “Levi! He’s working as a mascot for Erwin’s restaurant.” “Eh?” Eren caught Levi’s attention.

“What are you doing out here late at night Eren??” Levi insisted. “I’m sorry but what are you doing dressed as a yellow chicken?” Eren asked. “Do you need to be disciplined?” Levi argued. “I deserve an explanation for waiting for you every single night while you were gone!” Eren exclaimed. “Erwin’s been paying me large amounts of money to work at his family business. I didn’t want to worry you because it was Erwin.” Levi answered.

“But why do you need money, you’re family is filthy rich.” Eren continued. “I wanted to purchase an engagement ring with my own money. You got me my favorite broom for Christmas and I didn’t get you anything.” Levi clarified. “So… that was it. I feel awful…” Eren frowned. “Did you think Levi-kun was my prostitute?!” Erwin grinned. “Get lost.” Levi ordered.

“Eren, it’s your birthday tomorrow right? March 30th?” Levi asked. “Right.” Eren said. “You can pick out your ring tomorrow; I’ve earned enough money from this place.” Levi stated. “Tomorrow?!” Eren blushed delightfully.

The next day Eren and Levi went to Colossal Rings. “I’m so happy! I can pick out any ring?!” Eren requested. “Yeah…” Levi grunted as he could feel his wallet being emptied. “Levi-senpai I want this one!” “It’s so big…” Levi frowned. “But it has miniature bird designs…it reminds of the Wings of Freedom, the symbol of the Survey Corps.” Eren explained. “Then we’ll settle with this.” “Hey, Levi-senpai, put it on my finger” Eren joked. “What’s with that expression!?” Levi grunted. “My, what a cute young couple you are! When’s the wedding?” The cashier lady asked.
