Kinda sequel to 'Treat Them Mean'
It had been 5 months since living with your best friend Phil and his flat-mate Dan. It had also been 5 months since you and Dan had shared that weirdly passionate kiss. You tried to not let it play on your mind, but honestly, it did.. A lot. Not a word had been said since the kiss, no further movement from Dan so you decided to brush everything off and leave it unsaid. He had become a little nicer, though not enough that you could grant a proper friendship over it.
Since then, you had just gotten into a new relationship with a guy named Brett. He was super lovely and a proper gentleman and you had met through a work colleague. You had been with him just over a month and things were going really well. He lived 10 minutes away from you which was also convenient. He made you happy and you really enjoyed each others company.
"Brett is coming over today, is that cool?" You checked with Phil.
"Yeah sure, I haven't seen him in a while so it'll be nice"
You hadn't brought Brett over to your shared apartment much as Dan made things awkward the few times you had done previously. It wasn't anything Brett noticed, but you sure did. Dan seemed to be busy today and he had headed out 20 minutes before Brett arrived so your anxiety was brushed off.
"Brett!" You greeted him at the door, welcoming him with a hug and a quick kiss.
The next couple of hours were filled of Brett and Phil catching up and you and Brett filling yourselves full of popcorn and the newest season of your favourite TV show. It was a lovely evening, you had fun and had spent some good time with Brett so all was well. You heard the front door and footsteps approach the living room. Before you could glance at the door to see who it was, you realized by the "ugh" comment that was made and the swift exit that it was Dan. You brushed it off, though really thoughts raced your mind. Brett didn't notice so it was easy for you to go along with him and act as though nothing had happened.
The time had come where Brett was leaving, it was a little after 6PM. Phil had already said his goodbyes earlier before heading to Chris's for a small gathering.
"I'll see you soon sweetie" Brett said his farewells as you stood in the doorway, waving goodbye.
Without realizing you had turned your cheek to him when he went to kiss you goodbye and when he gave you a bizarre look you were put on the spot.
"I think I have a cold coming and sharing is not caring with that ahah" You lightly joked, hoping he wouldn't see through your obvious lie.
Brett nodded and headed off on his way. Closing the door slowly behind you, pressing your back up against it and exhaling deeply. You were flustered, though only when Dan was about and you hated it. Since the kiss, you haven't been able to shake the feeling he gave you. Though, you didn't know what it was that was so god damn attracting about him. Usually, bad boys or even remotely arrogant boys weren't your type but there was just something about him.
Walking upstairs and to the kitchen you began to pour yourself a glass of water, trying to drown any of these weird feelings you were flooded with. As you placed your glass on the side, exiting the kitchen, you walked a small way down the hall before your phone buzzed, making you stop to check the notification. Before looking back up you noticed you were pressed against the wall as Dan placed one arm beside your head, leaning on the wall and towering over you.
"I-I th-thought you were out" You were startled at his sudden appearance.
"Nah, didn't quite feel like it" He smirks, you adjust your position so you don't appear so inferior. You gulped, nodding slowly.
"How was Brett?" Dan asks with a patronizing and very sarcastic tone to his voice. You stare up at him, raising an eyebrow to test if he really wants the answer. Staring blankly back at you, you decide to answer anyway.
"F-fine thanks."
His breathing is suddenly heavy. Deciding to move slightly to see if he'll let you past, Dan pauses for a minute before speaking up.

"You don't love him." he challenges, a small smirk appearing on his thin lips.
"Excuse me?"
"You can't."
"He makes me happy." You retort. You cross my arms and stare defiantly up at him.
Yes, though he made you happy, that was all. You were just content and you could tell that you needed more. Craved more. He was all romantic, flowers, sweet and innocent. But you craved the edgy side, the danger, the passion. The lust.
"Sure" Dan shrugs. "I didn't say he didn't. But you don't love him. He doesn't get under your skin the way I do".
You brush off the love comment, that could take you into a deep tangent that you didn't want to explore right now.
"That's a good thing."
"You keep lying to yourself. You say he makes you happy but it's not the happiness I made you feel that day. It's not the tingle in your fingers or the butterflies in your stomach." Dan starts.
"...You like him cause he's safe. He won't hurt you. He's smart and funny and kind but he's oh so safe." Dan emphasized the 'oh', making sure to get a little closer to you and whisper the end of his sentence.
"Safe is a good thing." You nod at him firmly.
"Not for you. I can see it in your eyes" Dan raises your chin so you are forced to make eye contact with his deep, dark eyes.
"...You want recklessness. You want fiery passion. You want danger. In fact, I think you need it. You thrive on it."
He closes the even smaller gap that was once between you, breath warm on your face. One hand slips gingerly around the small of your back and the other rests on your cheek. Your breath catches in your throat. He leans down, lips just brushing your ear. Your skin prickles with goosebumps, and a smile sneaks it's way onto his face.
"See? I told you."
**end**
A minute of silence is held between the both of you as you try and gain composure. You try to steady your breathing and hide the explosion of feelings that is happening deep within your stomach. You manage to scoff slightly to reply.
"Whatever." You begin to brush Dan off, walking away from him.
He grabs your arm, pulling you into his embrace before he cups both of your cheeks and crashes your lips together. You pull away, staring up deeply at him. You read his face, as it drops from passion, to a devilish smirk.
"Y/N?"
You heard a familiar voice behind you. You looked at Dan as he continued to smirk down at you. Slowly, turning your head and then your body, you were met with a saddened Brett.
"Brett..I'-I'm sorry! It was all-" Before you could explain it was all Dan, he cut you off.
"Whatever, I'm just 'too kind' for you, I get it" He shrugged, quoting Dan. Though you could see the hurt in his eyes.
You chased after Brett as he ran out of your apartment. Doing an almost 'walk-of-shame' back up the many flights of stairs, you were met with a smirking Dan.
"Fiery passion y/n, you need it, you need me."
