February 14, 1994

Ron Weasley entered his shared dorm with his best friend, Harry Potter. They were laughing and joking around at how crazy girls became on Valentine's Day.

"It's not as bad for you, Ron. They don't try and give you candy with Amortentia." Harry said with a shudder as he remembered all the close calls he has had.

Ron scoffed and rolled his eyes, pushing Harry playfully. "Thanks, mate. Just rub it in that all the girls in our year are obsessed with you." Ron meant for it to come off as a joke yet he couldn't cover the bitterness that seeped through in his voice.

Harry stopped laughing and looked at Ron sympathetically. "Come on, Ron. You know I didn't mean it like that." He hoped Ron would understand. He didn't even want all the attention he got and he didn't enjoy fighting with his best friend about it.

Ron understood that so he plastered a smile on his face that wasn't as bright as it had been before. "Of course, Harry. I was just joking." But he wasn't and both Ron and Harry knew that.

There was a bit of an awkward silence as the two went over to their respective beds but it ended as soon as Ron laid eyes on the pair of wax lips that was laying on his bed.

"Harry," he called his friend over, "look at this."

"What is it, Ron?" The dark haired boy asked before he caught sight of the wax lips and he became just as confused as Ron was.

"What is it?" Ron asked in confusion, picking up the muggle sweet and looking at it curiously.

"Their called wax lips," Harry informed the pure-blood who – if not for his father – had probably never seen something muggle in his life – unless you counted Hermione.

"Wax lips," Ron repeated as he flipped the sweet over in his hand. "It's odd."

Harry chuckled slightly and nodded his head, running a hand through his already tousled hair. "Yeah, it's a bit of an odd treat but muggles seem to like them."

Ron hummed as he continued to inspect the sweet closely, as if it may explode or bite him at any moment. He seemed to find it harmless as he took a bite just as Harry yelled at him not to.

Ron looked at Harry confused and still chewing the treat, asked him, "What?"

Harry groaned and ran a hand over his face. "That could've been poisoned or had Amortentia in it!" He exclaimed in worry, and Ron found it quite amusing as his friend very much resembled their other friend: Hermione Granger.

Ron stuffed the rest of the treat in his mouth, ignoring Harry's distressed groans, and when he was finished with the sweet he cleared his throat and looked at Harry expectantly.

"Well," the Weasley prompted. "Am I dead?"

Harry looked at him confused but shook his head.

"Do I seem to be in love with anyone?"

Harry opened his mouth, about to retort with something sarcastic which Ron realised. "Actually – don't answer that."

After a few seconds of simply staring at each other, Harry sighed and rolled his eyes. "Fine, yes, Ron, I was overreacting."

Ron smiled triumphantly and flopped down on his bed, Harry doing the same after him.

"Oomph!" Ron let out a muffled groan as Harry's elbow jabbed him in the stomach.

"Whoops, sorry." Harry apologised however, he didn't seem all that sorry.

Ron rolled his eyes in disbelief. "Sure you are."
