Rachel's POV
It was a windy night in New York City. We only had a few hours left until we had to leave for Lima. Kurt was nowhere to be seen ever since Quinn told her how she felt about him. She was still a mess at her apartment so I told Finn to stay with her while I went to find Kurt.
An hour before, I had heard the apartment door across from ours slam shut. I peeked out our door to see but whoever had shut the door had already left the hallway.
I heard some crying coming from Quinn's apartment and I raced there. When I opened the door, she was on the floor crying.
"Quinn, what happened? I thought you were gonna talk to Kurt," I said, lowering down to the floor.
"I did," she sniffed. "He ran out on me. He hates me."
"No he doesn't sweetheart, it's ok," I said.
"No it's not!" she cried. "I ruined my friendship with Kurt! He'll never be friends with me! Never, never, ever!!"
By this time, Finn had heard the commotion and was now at Quinn's door. After we had given up trying to convince her that she didn't needed to feel guilty, I left to find Kurt.
At first, I wasn't sure where to check. New York was such a big city. How was I going to find Kurt with all these people?
Then, I remember his favorite place that he had been. Broadway. I made my way to the theater where we saw Wicked.
When I got there, sure enough, Kurt was there, sitting on a bench right beside the building.
I quietly had a seat next to him. We sat there without saying anything for a while. What was I supposed to say? 'Kurt Elizabeth Hummel! You get over your feelings for men right now and go tell my best friend that you love her!'
Finally, Kurt broke the silence.
"It's a nice night, isn't it?" he said.
"Kurt, I know you don't wanna talk about this but we need to."
"Talk about what? That my best friend has a crush on me and she can never be with me because I can't reciprocate those feelings? Sounds like a great topic."
"This is serious. She needs you right now."
He turned to look at me.
"The last thing I would want to do is hurt Quinn. So, how am I supposed to tell her that we'll never be what she wants us to be without breaking her heart?"
I took a deep breath.
"Don't you think she already knew that? She knows you'd never be with her and that you're happy with Blaine, and she never..." Kurt cut me off.
"Blaine cheated on me," he said, stern yet watery.
I was taken back. They seemed so happy. I never that this would happen to them. I mean, the first time they met, I knew it was puppy love. All I could say was,
"What?"
He was trying his hardest not to let the tears come falling.
"He was the love of my life. I never thought that I could be so happy with someone in my life. When he cheated on me, I wanted to keep loving him, but I couldn't stand to look at him. Especially after I found out the guy he had been seeing's name was Sebastian. Seriously, who would have sex with a Disney crab?"
"Oh Kurt I'm sorry," I said, grabbing his shoulder.
"Don't you see Rachel?" he continued. "All I needed was for her to be my friend through this time. I needed Quinn to get my mind off of him. I needed this whole trip to get my mind of out it. And it did. But she ruined it. She told me how she felt and I just can't handle it."
"And how do you think she's handling this right now," I asked. "When I found her, she was on the floor crying because she ruined the best friendship she's had in years. She needs you. I mean, you know everything about her. Like, what was the rumor that Mercedes spread about her?"
He didn't even hesitate.
"That she was pregnant. After it spread, she got kicked off the Cheerios."
"Exactly. You know everything about her. Please go to her."
He paused to think for a bit and then took a deep breath. He stood up and looked at me.
"Come on, she needs us," he said.
I grinned and took his hand. We walked together into the breezy New York weather to cheer up our friend.
