"We've got to find you a man, Elena. You have been such a downer all week. A night of great sex with a hot guy would cheer you right up, I'm sure of it." Kelsey says to me from across the table. If she only knew how great of a time I'd had with Harry last week.
I pick at my taco salad with my fork, moving the ground beef and shredded cheese back and forth inside the crunchy shell. I had chosen not to tell anyone about Harry because he's just a guy I met in the bar. That's all. Maybe Kelsey was right. Maybe if I find a new guy, I can get out of this funk I've been in for the last week, ever since Harry and I's last meet up.
"Maybe," I say with a forced smile.
After dinner is over, we decide to go to a club in the next city over. It's a new one called Vortex and so far it has a good rep. There's also the fact that Kelsey and I went to school with Brent, the new bouncer who works there, so he'll let us in without proper ID.
"This place is lit!" I yell to Kelsey as we approach the dance floor. The club is dark with strobe lights and flashing neon signs everywhere. Girls in tight mini dresses and frat boys dancing together surround us.
Kelsey and I dance with each other for a few songs before leaving to the bar for some drinks. We end up getting four shots for each of us and my mind is already becoming cloudy as I down my third. An attractive blonde guy wearing a red snapback comes up behind Kelsey as she and I finish our fourth shot. He bends down, whispering something in her ear. She looks at me, asking me silently if I would mind if she goes to dance with him.
"Go on," I mouth to her.
Forty five minutes later, I am sitting in a chair at the edge of the club. I haven't seen sight of Kelsey since she left my side at the bar. I didn't think she would be gone this long. A few guys have tried to coax me out to the dance floor with them but I have refused each time, making up some excuse. I text Kelsey and then ring her phone, doubting that she can even hear it over the loud music.
When the phone picks up, I immediately start talking before she can even say "hello".
"Kels, I'm ready to go home if you are. This club isn't as great as I thought it would be and I'm not feeling that great."
"Why the hell are you calling me from a club?" Harry's rough voice comes through the receiver. I pull my phone from my ear and stare at the screen. I must have accidentally pushed on Harry's name instead of hers somehow. I rush towards the front of the club and exit it to stand against the outer wall so I can hear better.
"Harry?" I ask.
"Who else would it be answering my phone, other than me?" He asks back, clearly annoyed.
"Right, sorry. I didn't mean to call you."
"Where are you?"
"Vortex."
"I'll be there in twenty. Stay there." Harry says and hangs up.
I do not want to see Harry, at least that's what I've been telling myself for the last week. Every time I think of him, I remember how amazing he made me feel, how he gave me the best orgasm imaginable, but I also remember him refusing to kiss me and how it was a blow to my self esteem.
Fifteen minutes later, I get a text back from Kelsey.
"I'm leaving with Niall since you clearly left me here."
I start to text her back to tell her that I'm just outside but I'm interrupted by a fancy black sports car pulling up right next to the curb. The window rolls down and I'm greeted with Harry's perfect face set in a frown.
"You didn't have to come here." I say, taking a few steps closer to his car.
"Get in."
Harry is silent as he drives down the street and I don't know what to say to take away the tension that is building between us. I notice that the streets we're taking are unfamiliar and that we must be heading back his his house instead of my apartment. My thoughts are proven right when we turn and his house comes into view.
When he parks his car and we both get out, I'm not sure what to say or do. Harry runs his hand through his hair and walks a few steps closer to me. I'm about to ask him to take me home when he speaks up first.
"I was a complete asshole for not kissing you." Harry says, stepping even closer. His arm wraps around me, hand resting on my lower back, and his other cups my cheek. He moves his face in slowly and his lips brush against mine. After a few seconds, I begin to move my mouth over his, parting my lips and allowing his tongue to push through. His thumb rubs back and forth on my check as he continues kissing me.
This is what I had been wanting all week, whether I would admit it to myself or not. All the tension and stress from the past days seemed to evaporate once Harry's mouth was on mine. I bring my arms up to loop under his and rest my hands on his shoulder blades. My senses are all taken over by him, his minty scent, his sweet taste, the sound of his breathing, and the feel of his soft lips moving on mine.
Harry breaks the kiss and I open my eyes to see his emerald ones staring back at me. He takes a few steps back and stares down at his boots before looking at me again. I'm in a haze from his kiss. It had somehow felt more powerful then when we were together in his bed.
"Fück, Elena, what are you doing to me?" Harry asks breathlessly.
