I hadn't had a drink of alcohol since the night at Harry's house two days ago. I had made the decision to stop my downward spiral and get my life back on track. It wasn't going to be easy or fun but it would be for the best.
Harry had called me over and over again but I'd refused to answer. I don't need someone as unstable as him in my life if I'm going follow my plan.
"I'm so proud of you, Elena! You can totally do this." Trina squeals after I tell her my decision to work on getting into beauty school for cosmetology. "I'll help you in every way I can."
Work had been hell today in that trashy hotel but sitting here with my sister now and thinking about my future makes me feel loads better. She believes in me, even though I've given her a hundred reasons not to, and that alone motivates me even more. She's really the only family I have left.
Trina leaves a tip on the table and as we stand up to go pay at the counter, Harry walks in the front door with Niall and Kelsey. He's staring me down and I turn away quickly, pretending that I didn't see him. How did this coincidentally happen that he and I would be at the same restaurant at the same time in such a big city? Just my luck.
"Hey, Elena. Over here!" Kelsey shouts. Other occupants in the crowded room turn and stare at her.
"Hey." I say stiffly, wishing she wasn't so good at spotting me in a crowd for once.
Kelsey walks over to me as I stand behind Trina while she pays for our dinner. "You should come party with us at Vortex. It will be so fun."
Trina finishes paying and turns toward me, a disapproving look covering her face. "Elena, you can't go there. You're not even old enough."
By this time, Niall and Harry has joined us and I can tell they want to laugh. It low key embarrasses me and makes me want to punch them both.
"Trina, you can't tell me what to do." I turn towards Kelsey. "Let's go." I say, just to make sure my sister knows that I can make my own decisions. I walk away, leaving her standing with her arms crossed over her chest.
Kelsey, Niall, and Harry order their food to go and I wait for them outside. Trina walks past me, making it a point to not even look in my direction. A couple of minutes later, everyone comes out with their bags of food and I follow them to a navy blue ford that must be Niall's. He hops in the driver's seat and Kelsey gets shot gun, which leaves me squished in my tiny backseat with Harry. Perfect.
"We're going to Harry's first to get ready and waste a little time before we go to Vortex." Kelsey tells me as Niall drives.
Niall and Kelsey banter lightly between each other as we get farther down the street. I'm silent the whole way and so is Harry as he stuffs fries into his mouth and practically inhales his cheese burger. It's awkward and the tension between us is so thick that I'd need a butcher knife to cut through it.
I'm last to walk inside Harry's house when we arrive and the second the door is shut behind me, he is sulking.
"What's your problem?" I ask him.
"Nothing," he huffs.
"Right," I say rolling my eyes and joining Kelsey and Niall in the den room. I set in the recliner chair next to the couch they're on and Harry joins us a couple of minutes later.
"Elena, can we talk for a minute?" Harry asks.
"Yeah, sure. Start talking." I snap.
"Alone,"
I sigh and get up to follow him. He leads me through his house to a guest bedroom on the first floor, closing us in. He turns on the light and starts pacing back and forth across the floor as I lean against the wall.
"I'm sorry for being an asshole the other day. I'm sorry for being so. . . Indecisive, I guess. Can you give me another chance? I can make you happy." He says and I know this was hard for him.
"I'm not looking for a relationship." I say simply, hoping this doesn't make him angry with me.
"Neither am I. I could make your body happy. Only me, though."
"What exactly are you asking? You want to use me exclusively?"
"Don't lie to yourself, Elena. You loved what we done together. I gave you the best orgasm that you've ever had."
It wasn't a lie but I stay silent, not knowing what to say back.
"Elena," Harry half whispers, nearing me. He presses his body against mine and brings his lips to my neck. I tip my head to give him better access without even thinking about it and a whine slips from my lips when his hands trail up my sides. "Please say yes."
My body responds to his so easily, so deliciously. His touch is electrifying, sizzling. His mouth is irresistible and the thoughts alone make me shudder under his hands.
"I want to be the only one who touches you like this." He says against my neck and rubs one hand between my thighs. I open my eyes and look up into his emerald ones and I'm sold, no matter how much I might regret it in the future.
"Okay,"
