The lake during the sunset was one of the places in Hogwarts, where I liked to sit and just relax. Whatever happened during New Year's Day with my cousin continued to play on my mind. I wrap my scarf closer to my face, as the cool air began to pick up. Everybody was still catching up in the Great Hall, so it was a rare seeing someone already sitting by the lake. I walk slowly up to the student, and tap his shoulder. His hair was a dark shade of blue, and tears ran down his face.
"Scorpius." He said, wiping his face. I looked at him closely, and realized that it was Theodore Lupin, who was standing in front of me. I looked at him with confusion... he was usually always with Ana and her other Ravenclaw friends.
"Hi. Where's Ana?" I ask him. He looks at me sadly, and more tears begin to run down.
Then something clicked.
Everything that happened at home was a reality.
"Lupin, where is my cousin?" I ask, grabbing the collar from his robes.
"She's dead." He whispered, and broke down into sobs. I look at the lake and shake my head.
"No, she's not."
"You weren't there, boy."
"No! You weren't there! You only saw it happening! I saw when it started!" He shakes my hands off his robes and looks down at me.
"I'm telling my godfather." He spats and begins walking away. In panic, i grab a stone from the ground and throw it, hitting his head. He turns around, determination in his eyes.
"You can't! They'll only hurt her. Whether you want to believe it or not. That person is still Ana! I know she's still in there!"
"Scorpius. I saw her scream the last breath of your cousin! My Ana! I heard it! That thing that is walking around is nothing but an imposer. I'm not going to wait and see that thing roam around inside the body of someone we BOTH care about." I stand there, letting every word he said, sink in.
"You can't tell the Order." I repeated. " I know we can still do something about it." I try to reason with him. Anything but getting the Order involved and having a high risk of having Ana die wasn't in my father's plan. Not even mine. He shakes his head, his hair slowly turning red. A red so bright, it reminded me of the fire that lit the living room during the coldest nights, and the color that we all see when anger takes over our body.
"We can't do anything... not anymore." He said in a voice slightly above a whisper. Sounding more of a reality slap than anything. For the both of us.
"Teddy." I look at him, using the nickname Ana used whenever she talked about him. Tears began to run down his cheeks, as if it was the last time he was going to hear the name being said to him. I clear my throat, not wanting to cry myself. Whatever had happened, I still didn't want to believe that we could not do anything about it. I wasn't going to give up. "Don't tell Harry Potter.. Don't tell anyone.." I pause and take a deep breath. "No one will know the difference between this Ana and our Ana. Not her friends, not the students. No one. We can try and make Anastasia be herself again."
"And if we fail?" He asks, and eyebrows raised. What if we failed? No one knew what this Ana was capable of doing to anyone that surrounded her. Not me. Not Lupin. I don't give him an answer, and stood silent as he slowly walked towards the castle. I look at the dark colors of the sky as it slowly became night, and let the tears escape. I wipe my eye, sit back down on the cool grass and let out a heavy sigh.
"Mum... What do i do?"
