I woke up some time later. I was confused and my head was spinning wildly. I was lying down on something soft but I wasn't too sure as to what it was. I groaned as I attempted to open my eyes but the pounding pain in my head was resisting me from doing so. I finally managed to pry my eyes open. It took a while for my eyes to adjust to the bright light which surrounded me. I blinked a few times. My vision was blurry so I couldn't make out where I was. I did see, however, a huge thing come and block whatever little I could see.
"Good," it spoke, "you're awake." I felt it touch my shoulders and help me sit up.
"Thanks Myron," I said. I could see clearly now and it seemed like we were sat in a field. The sun did shine high above us and a there was not a cloud in sight. The grass that I was sat on alongside Myron was a luscious green color and it was soft against my bare legs. I looked to the side at Myron. "Where are we?"
"In a field," he replied bluntly and I had to resist from rolling my eyes at him.
"I can tell but how did we get out of that hole we were stuck in?" I asked him.
"Wasn't too hard," he muttered. I frowned at him. He was acting weird. He sat there on the ground, pulling the strands of grass out as if to release him of some kind of frustration or anxiousness which was possessing him. He was sat quite some bit away from me too. About a foot or two. So I stood up and walked a few steps in his direction before sitting back down on the grass but facing him with my knees pulled up to my chest and my elbows resting on them and my chin resting in my hands.
"Why so serious?" I asked him.
He blinked bluntly, "not really the situation to be laughing is it?"
Internally, I sighed before saying, "You seem upset."
"What makes you say?" he asked.
"Just the way you're acting," I answered.
"How do you expect me to act then?" Myron suddenly snapped causing me to lift my head up quickly and widen my eyes. Myron turned towards me, "what do you want me to do? Jump around and laugh, make jokes and smile? Is that what you want me to do? After everything that just happened, you want me to be happy?" He continued to shout.
"Myron..." I tried to intervene but he didn't listen and just continued.
"Did you not see what was back there, Avery? Did you not see that creature that dragged us? It touched us with its filthy hands, for God's sake! How oblivious can you be?" he shouted and that was what got me going.
"I am not oblivious, Myron." I snapped back. "I experienced the exact same thing as you back there, okay, but at least I'm trying to stay positive and help in whatever way I can."
"Yeah, because fainting on me is so helpful," Myron rolled his eyes.
"That was not even my fault," I spoke as calmly as I could, trying to keep my composure. "I cannot control if I faint or not, Myron."
"Well it's not like you were much help before that either," Myron retorted. "All you did was stand there."
"I was in shock," I defended
"That didn't stop you from joking around beforehand," Myron said.
"And so were you!" I snapped. "You were joking around with me then as well. What's stopping you from at least smiling and answering my questions now?"
Myron sighed, running a hand through his dark hair. He looked stressed. His eyes brows furrowed so harshly that they looked as if they were about to fall off. His green eyes held a stern and sharp look that could pierce through any heart.
