He was there, with his green eyes piercing through me and his black hair falling in front of his ghastly face. His lank body holding him up. A laugh tumbled through his lungs and entrapped me within it. It was the creature. The same creature that had dragged me and Myron down that hole into that unknown place. My heart began to thump loudly in my chest and I warily took a step back, the gun still clutched shakily in my hand. This was the first time, actually, that I had seen they creature in full, last time it had been too dark to see clearly.
A croaky laugh left his lips and he began to walk towards me, shuffling forwards in his scruffy shoes. I walked backwards, trying to stay as far away from him as I could.
"Stay away from me," I said, my voice coming out weak and shaky. He simply just laughed again and continued to walk forwards. I immediately spun around and ran for the door but as soon as I reached there, it closed shut and I ran face first into it. I stumbled back a few steps and turned back around.
"Whoops," he chuckled sarcastically, "didn't meant to do that."
"H...how?" I stuttered. He smiled and brought his hands up, moving them around each other. I watched with wide eyes as sparks were ignited from his hands around each other. He brought them up and blew the fiery specks across the room and towards me.
"Magic from the immortals," he said and with a smirk added. "Enjoy your next clue, my lovely."
The sparks surrounded me, circling around me as the danced. I watched, struck in confusion and curiosity. I looked closely at them and they began to grow and grow into shapes of various sizes. I was caught in a trance by them and the shapes they created led me forwards, further and further as they made a forest for me to walk into. I stepped on to the path the created for me and I was gone. I was gone from the room and trapped into a forest which glowed a sparkling gold color as it was the fiery magic which had created it. I walked forwards and looked around myself. Glimmering trees stood high above me, towering over me and showered down specks of golden dust from their leaves. Under my heels, pebbles crunched as I walked but I feared not that I would fall. I felt safe. Like the magic was taking care of me, showing me something.
As I continued to walk, a glimpse of movement caught my eye. I turned towards it and saw the shadow of a man. He was quite a young man, about in his mid-twenties. He was walking through the forest, his black hair shimmering from the dusty gold which fell upon it. He was dressed in simple clothing, jeans and a button down – the usual for a man his age. He ventured through the forest and so I ran after him, holding my long dress up with my free hand since my other still held my gun. I kept my eyes on him, not letting him out of my sight as I ran after him in this forest made of golden dust.
I didn't know why I was following him. I didn't even know who the man was. All I knew was that I was meant to. I was being drawn towards him. I couldn't stop even if I wanted to. If I wanted to. So I just continued running after the man. He came to an abrupt stop and I furrowed my eyebrows, walking right up to him. Once I was about two feet away from him, I saw what he was looking at.
Monsters.
There were loads of them. They scurried around, growling as they did. I looked at the man and saw a calm expression on his face. The corners of his lips twitched slightly before curving into a grin.
"Hello again, my lovelies," he spoke and rushed forwards to greet them. I froze.
My lovelies.
That's what he had called them. I wasn't shocked by the fact that he had used that term of endearment for monsters, it was more of where I had heard it being said before.
