Harry Potter had come across Ron's old dress robes when helping Ron and Hermione move. Ron had been at work at the time but when hearing that his old enemy had resurfaced, he instructed Harry and Hermione to pull them thread from thread, pop the remaining pieces in a wood chipper and burn them the muggle way. However, Hermione couldn't part with them. So, they remained in their new attic until the day Scorpius Malfoy would come across the ancient article when helping clean the attic out.
