Adaieh's P.O.V.
"Here, hold these."
I handed Sarah my bags so I can get my key out my pocket.
"Okay. What did the cover say to the bed when he fell off?"
Sarah and I was at my door step of my house when, out of nowhere, she asked this.
"I don't know, what?" I opened the door and we stepped in.
"Oh sheet!"
We busted out laughing. I never did heard that one before. Oh my gosh! We was laughing our butts off. It was to the point that our stomachs were crying out in pain, that if we look at each others faces we'll laugh even harder. I thought I was gonna die if it wasn't for Ms. Martinez's voice.
"Shirley? Is that you? If it's not, I have a gun and I'm not afraid to use it!"
That made the laughing die down real quick. Sarah even made a confused face. Me, on the other hand, I'm used to it. I barley try to correct her.
"Who's Shirley?" Sarah whispered like she really was confused. It sounded more like a self question though.
"It's just us Ms. Martinez!"
I took off the jacket I had and was about to put it on the coat rack, but thought better of it and threw it over my shoulder instead.
"I don't know anybody name 'us', now tell me who you really are!"
Why don't she just come and see who it is? I rolled my eyes and walked in the living room where I know she'll be as Sarah followed behind me with our bags.
"Us as in me and Sarah."
"Oh hi Shirley! My back was hurting so much because of these uncomfortable chairs you have so I couldn't get up so see who it was." She frowned and shook her head.
That's compliant number one. There's more to come.
"I'll make sure that I'll tell my momma that we need more chairs."
"Thanks dear."
"Okay, well we're just gonna head upstairs and do some homework."
"We are?" Sarah looked more confused than before.
"We are!" I gave her a look.
Go along with it, unless you wanna stay down here and hear old stories that she can barley remember herself!
"Oh! Yeah, the American History homework we had. We should really get to it since it's a lot."
"Yeah. See ya later Ms. Martinez."
"Well since it's history and I'm getting to my golden years, how about I help you girls?"
"Wait. Did I say History? I meant French. My bad, I always get those two mixed up." Sarah started nervously chuckling. Poor girl. Can't lie for nothing.
"But it's only Friday. Why don't hold it off till tomorrow?"
Before Sarah anything else stupid and this time probably mess something up, I answered.
"Oh you know us Ms. Martinez, we get the homework done first so then we'll have the weekend to ourselves." I started towards the stairs and Sarah followed.
"Okay. If you need any help just ask." She spoked as her attention was on the T.V.
"Okay, we will."
We made our way up the stairs to my room. I closed the door as Sarah put the bags down by my closet and sat down on my bed. I just stared at her with my arms crossed. She didn't know I was staring at her till she looked my way. She let out a sigh.
