It was a Friday night. Darry usually finished work early while the rest of the gang went to a movie. I stayed home while the gang went so Darry wouldn't have to be alone to walk. The house was quiet. I was so used to the loudness when the rest of the gang was over that this quiet scared me. I turned on the record player. The record on was Elvis.
"This gang sure does love Elvis..." I said out loud to myself. 'Love me Tender' came on. All these lyrics were something I never had, but it's a good song. I was ready to go, wearing some leather pants and my flannel tied up to show my stomach. Tonight was quite warm, for October. The song ended. 'One night with you' began. I hummed along as I waited. I turned my head around as the door creaked open. Darry looked up surprised to see me.
"You didn't have to wait for me you know?"
"I know" I said. I smiled. Darry walked over and sat down on the couch next to me. I stood up and held out my hand.
"C'mon." Darry looked at my hand then looked back at me.
"Don't tell me you don't know how to dance, Darry." I smiled at him, my hand still out.
"No. I'm not dancing." Darry got up and walked past me.
"I am going to change then we are going to go see the gang at the movie." I rolled my eyes and sat back down.Darry came back out from his room pulling a pain black t-shirt over his head. I leaned foreword, resting my chin in my hand.
"Just one dance before the song is over?" I asked, standing up. Darry walked over to me, his body extremely close to mine. Our hands found each other's. I roped my arms around his neck while his hands traveled to my waist. My fingers drew circles on his broad shoulders and back. His fingers ran through my belt loops and picked me up so one leg was over his. His mouth hovered precariously over my ear and neck. I was practically puddy in his hands. We swayed and traveled across the living room. I had to suppress a moan every time our hips were pressed together. This received a groan from him too. He left kisses trailing down my neck. I ran my hands through his greased hair, tugging at every loose end.
Too soon we heard the screen door creak and the front door slide open. We pushed away from each other, hoping no one saw. I smiled, a blush rushed across his cheeks. He ran his hands through his hair.
"You guys are back early." Darry said. The boys didn't seem to notice as they all piled on the couch and turned on the TV.
"Yeah," Steve answered. "The movie was boring and you guys never showed up so we left." Pony boy was sitting in the big chair flipped through a book when he looked up.
"What were yall doing here anyway." I jumped to answer before Darry did, afraid he would say something dumb.
"You know just talking about bills and Adult stuff." I said, hoping they would loose interest. Pony nodded and continued reading. The rest of the gang had their attention on the TV, except Soda. He looked at me quizzically. I shrugged and made my way to the kitchen. After a few minutes, Darry soon entered too. I walked over to him.
"I knew you could dance. Even if it's dirty dancing." I whispered as I walked by to go into the room I shared with Sodapop.****
I changed from my jeans and flannel into Sodas t-shirt and some shorts. Soda burst in the doorway. He shut the door behind him.
"Ok what happened while we were gone?" I looked at him like he was crazy, trying very hard to not blush like crazy.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I looked away, picking at my nails.
"That is the biggest bold face lie I have ever heard!" Soda ran over and jumped on the bed, taking me down with him. I was laughing so hard.
"You have to tell me or else!" Soda began tickling me.
"no no no Please stop!" I could hardly breathe.
"Okay okay STOP!" Soda stopped and looked at me. I was still laughing when I looked over and saw Soda was serious. I sat up.
"We danced." Was all I said. Soda sat up. And looked me in the eye.
"That's not it I know it. 'Adult stuff?' Some thing ~sexy~ happened." I turned to Soda and laughed in his face.
"No way. Nothing sexy happened." I lied. Good thing I'm good at lying.
"C'mon. You had to have noticed the way Darry was looking at you when we got home. His eyes looked like the way Dally looks at a broad he wants to bring home and never let anyone else have." I raised my eyebrows at Soda. I really didn't notice that. That had to be a lie.
"Soda, you know he doesn't like me and I don't like him romantically." I looked down. I played with the hem of my shirt. Soda got up and walked to the door. He was about to open it when I sighed.
"Okay so maybe we danced like Dally dances at the bar." I whispered, my smile growing so large. Soda turned around and smiled at me.
"You did not."
"Yes we did, soda." I looked up at him still smiling. Soda ran over to me and hugged me.
"YOURE GONNA GET MARRIED!!"
"SHUT UP SODA! The gang is gonna hear you!" Soda laughed and let go.
"I know a secret..." a smirk was plastered on his face. He ran out the door and into the living room.
"Don't tell anyone Soda!" I yelled after him.*******
