I was bored so I was playing with my hair while I sat on the stairs. The stairs where Beau and I had almost kissed yesterday. It was Jake's fault that we didn't. Oh well, at least Beau now knows that I'm not interested in Jake. I got up to go to the kitchen. It was noon and I hadn't eaten anything yet. I saw muffins from the store on the counter, I guess my dad picked them up after work yesterday. They were blueberry muffins, one of my favourites! I grabbed one and sat down at the table to eat it. I was off in my own world, just thinking about things, when my dad walked in.
"So who was that guy that brought you home the other day?" My dad asked.
I shrugged as if it were nothing, but it was something. A huge something. "Um, his name is Beau. He's one of the friends I went to the party with."
"Ohh, I see. The name Beau sounds familiar. Have you guys been friends for a long time?" He said, grabbing a muffin.
"No, just met him for the first time the other day." It was true. I've never met them before I came here.
"Beau Brooks, right? He's that guy you always talk about!" My dad leaned against the counter.
"Yeah, he's a youtuber." I smiled. I finished my muffin.
"That famous one? Oh wow, Mari. You finally met a janetikit and you're friends with them!"
"A janetikit? No, dad, a janoskian." I laughed. "But yeah, I guess!" I had a huge smile on my face. I was so glad I met them this summer. Or winter. It was my summer vacation but since I was in Australia, it was technically winter.
"Aw, that's good." My dad finished his muffin and walked off.
I pulled out my phone to go onto twitter, I hadn't gone on in a long time. Right before I opened twitter I got a text. Weird timing.
Jenny: Come over, Luke's really upset!
Me: Oh no, why?!
I hoped Luke was okay. I've never really seen him upset. I brushed muffin crumbs off my lap and walked out of the kitchen. I went upstairs to my room to get dressed. I was feeling lazy today so I wore some black leggings and a baggy burgundy hoodie. It was comfy. I didn't bother with makeup. I never really did, it took too much time and it was a nuisance to me. I put my hair in a low side ponytail and walked back downstairs. I got another text.
Jenny: We don't know why he's upset but Mallory isn't answering us!
Me: Okay, I'll be there in five minutes!
I got my dad to drive me to the Brooks' house. It was weird casually asking him to go to my idols' house. But today they weren't just my idols, they were my friends. And Luke needed friends right now if he's upset. I wondered why Mallory wasn't answering any of us. She's Luke's girlfriend, she should be here for him. Maybe she was busy or didn't have her phone with her. Oh well. It only took a few minutes to get to their house. I got out of the car and walked to the front door of the house. Kat opened it before I even knocked. She was holding half eaten string cheese. I walked in and saw James, Jordane, Daniel, and Jenny on the couch. Kat went to sit beside James. I sat in between Jenny and Jordane. I guess Beau and Jai were with Luke right now. They were good brothers.
"So what's wrong?" I asked.
"We don't know, he won't tell us." Jordane sighed.
"Aw. Is he really upset?" I frowned.
"Seems like it!" Jenny replied.
Beau walked out from Luke's room and sat down on a chair beside the couch we were on. He gave me a sad smile. "Luke said he's going to come out here and tell us all what happened. He said it's something between him and Mallory." He shrugged.
Jai walked out with Luke beside him. Luke looked like he had been crying. His face was a bit pink and his eyes were red. I immediately thought Luke and her must have broken up.
"Mallory cheated on me." Luke said plainly. He bit his cheek to keep from crying. Everyone's faces in the room went blank. She seemed so nice, why would she cheat? Especially on Luke. The boys all got up and patted Luke on the back. Everyone was saying sorry. I felt sorry for him too. I didn't know what to do, so I just stood there and watched everyone's reactions.
"What?!" Kat shouted.
Jordane stood up and walked over to Luke. She gave him a long hug. Luke tried to smile at her.
Then Kat held her food out to Luke. "Do you want the rest of my string cheese?" She asked seriously. I could tell some of us were trying not to laugh. Even Luke smiled a little but he shook his head no.
"Thanks guys," Luke mumbled. "I just kind of want to be alone though." We all nodded.
"Take as long as you need, Luke. It'll be okay." I reassured him. Luke just nodded and then walked back to his room. I saw him wipe his eye before he closed the door.
"That's why Mallory wasn't answering us." Jenny said.
"I hope he's okay." I said.
"Promise me you'll never cheat?" Jai asked Jordane.
"Jai, you know I wouldn't. I promise." She smiled. Jai leaned down and kissed her. Jaidane was perfect.
"Our girls wouldn't cheat on us!" Daniel smiled. He gave Jenny a big hug, lifting her up for a few seconds and putting her back down.
James nodded, "I'm too perfect to be cheated on." He laughed. Kat smiled and reached out to hold his hand.
They were all so cute. Then there was me. I awkwardly stood and watched all this. I looked at Beau. He was looking at me too, so I quickly turned away. Why was I so awkward?
