After that night Kazuha left the hospital and the next day she stayed at home for recovery.

"Kazuha, how are you feeling today?" Heiji asked her anxiously.

The girl smiled at him and grabbed his hand. This made the boy's heart to skip a beat from happiness. He gripped her hand and brought it to his lips. He kissed it and continued to hold it tightly. Then tears started to run. This made the girl worry and made her look uncomfortable. He smiled and leaned over to sweetly kiss her. Then he put both hands on each side of the face of his beloved and brought it closer to his.

"Kazuha... I really thought that I wouldn't be able to hear you again. That you wouldn't wake up. If that was to happen... I... I don't know... I wouldn't take it. Not without you."

"Don't worry Heiji. I'm here! I'm awake now and beside you. So don't be afraid. OK?" In the meantime the remaining three were sitting in the living room and having breakfast. But Ran wasn't eating.

"Why aren't you eating anything?" Sonoko asked worried her friend.

"Eh? Oh sorry... Ah! Pancakes! Yummy!" she answered quickly and continued to look at her plate.

"Eat!" she heard a voice from beside her and a pancake came to her face. The girl looked surprised at the food and almost fell from her chair.

"Let the yelling and eat!" the voice was heard again.

"Listen to Shinichi-san." Sonoko observed. "You haven't eat anything since we came here!" she continued to scold her childhood friend.

Ran just looked at them and bowed her head.

"Why? Why do you treat me so kindly?" she asked and stood up. "After all the things that happened? After everything I did... how can you pretend to be so kind towards me?" she fled from the room. Shinichi got up and ran behind her. At one point she turned to a corner and when he followed her there he lost her. He looked around but it was dead end. He assumed that he got himself a wrong turn, after all the house was a neat maze, so he turned around and left. He turned back to the table where peace prevailed.

With Ran

"Um... are you sure that here we will be ok?" she asked confused the old man.

"Yes... as you saw your friend left... so he won't find you here for a while." the old man answered with a smile.

"Yes, thank you." She thanked him and went to leave.

"um... wait miss... What do you say we go below?'"

"Eh? Where? In the basement?"

"Yes... there must be something to spend your time. Come down and I'll go fetch your breakfast." He answered and push her gently towards the stairs behind them.

She descended the stairs. She couldn't believe how easily escaped from Shinichi. Fortunately there was that old man who as he said worked there for years and helped her to hide last minute. But she had this feeling that somewhere she must had seen him before. But not at home. After a short time she had left in the dark looking for a switch to open the light but then she realized that it was time to go back. She started to go towards where she came from. Her eyes were now get used to the darkness so she was moving somehow easier. Once she arrived at the stairs she felt someone pull her backwards. That someone pulled her up and stuck her on the wall.
