Getting Ready

I groaned inwardly waking up the next morning. My alarm, still going off gave me a rattling headache that just wouldn't go away. I face-planted into my pillow, and sighed a shaky breath. Another day at school. I wonder if I'll get sent out again. Not like I even care, really.

Nik knocked on my door, and I sat up immediately, "Yes, Nikalus? I'm awake." I stretched, and pulled the covers off my body. "Is there something you need?"

"No. Just making sure you were awake, that's all. Hurry up, since Mrs. Werrly wants to meet with us, we're leaving earlier than normal." Nikalus said, then I heard his footsteps disappearing.

Light shone through my window, as the breeze flung my violet-colored curtains around. Today's a windy day. Best not to wear shorts. I walked over to my dresser, and grabbed a pair of black skinny jeans, and sluggishly put them on. Then I walked over to my closet, and grabbed an olive-colored shirt out.

Looking into the mirror I smiled at my reflection. My natural jet-black laid past my waist, as my pale complexion made me look dead. At least my eyes make me look human. I glared closely at the mirror as I began applying my make-up carefully, as to not stab my eye.

"Nikolina, today please!" Nik called from down the hall, and I growled.

"I'm doing my make-up!" I yelled towards him.

"Hurry the hell up. We have to leave."

"Okay. Okay. Calm your tits Nik."

"Your one to talk, I don't have tits."

"Are you sure?! You've been gaining weight. Got some man boobs now."

"Nikolina Skye Martinez, watch who your saying that to." My brother yelled coming towards my room. He opened my door, and looked at me frowning. "I swear young lady, if Mom and Dad were still here you'd be in so much trouble right now."

I growled, and walked out of my room, "But they aren't. Their dead, Nik. Stop talking about them." I walked into the bathroom, and closed the door beginning to brush my teeth.

"Stop saying their dead. Just because their dead to you doesn't mean they are dead to me. I know why you had to leave them, and live with me."

I swung the door open, and glared at Nik, "I said 'stop talking about them', Nik. Don't you EVER listen?!" Around me the lights flickered on and off. I looked up Nik who was completely baffled. "Don't look at me. I didn't do anything."

"I know you didn't, that'd be like you had a supernatural ability. And everyone knows supernatural beings don't exist." Nik said, and walked out of the doorway, "Now let's go."

I nodded, and finished brushing my teeth, before grabbing my shoes, and backpack. Yesterday, after I got home all I was allowed to do was homework, and now I'm stuck going to see Mrs. Werrly at six in the damn morning. This is complete bull crap. Nik opened up the front door, and allowed me to go out. School here we come.

~At school, standing in front of Mrs. Werrly's office~

"Let's go, and get it over with Nikki." Nik said, and I nodded.

Entering Mrs. Werrly's office, I noticed another person sitting in one of the chairs. I walked over, and sat in one next to him, with Nik standing behind me. The guy beside me had black hair, with blue highlights, and his eyes although I couldn't see them well I could see they were some shade of blue.

Silence engulfed the room, and I looked up at Nik who was standing impatiently. He cleared his throat, and Mrs. Werrly looked over at us. Finally, took you long enough.

"Nikolina, your here." Mrs. Werrly said. and I nodded.

"Yes. Uh, who's this?" I questioned pointing to the guy sitting next to me.

"I'm Lysander, Princess." He said, with a grin.

"Princess? Excuse me, I don't even know you."

"Ah, yes. You don't. But I know who you are." He commented, and looked towards me. "The new girl who gets in trouble constantly, but never gets any type of punishment from the principal," His grinned widened. "This is very bad for your reputation. Do you take pity on her or something? Or is there something else about her you know, and that's why your protecting her. I mean if that's the case then why don't you just kick the bitch out of school."

"Lysander, watch your language." Mrs. Werrly said, and Lysander's grin weakened. "I am not protecting Nikolina."

"Yeah, asshole. I'm getting detention." I snapped, and looked at Mrs. Werrly.

"Actually, Nikolina. Your not getting detention. I have something else planned in mind. Same does for you Lysander. This is why I called you both into my office this morning."

"Wait," Nik said, wanting to be present. "Why did you call me in here?"

"Your Nikolina's guardian, you have to know about this."

"Know about what?" Lysander, and I both said.

"Nikolina. Lysander. I am sending both of you to Forgotten Academy."
